CHAPTER 7 - A PRINCESS CAN DO BETTER

************************************************************************************************************

Avery woke up and after stretching, yawning and sitting up she examined her surroundings. She was still in Enchanted.

Rubbing her eyes before getting out of bed, Avery felt her back start to tingle. Looking in the full length mirror, Avery saw her wings had disappeared and after a few more tingles, her wings shot out of her back making her smile. There was a knock on her door.

"Avery, may I come in?" Dylan said in a muffled tone. Avery fixed her appearance before walking over to the door and opening it for the prince. He came in wearing armour and was carrying an extra suit.

"This is for you. Think of it as a welcoming present," Dylan said as he held the armour out for Avery to take. She took it with a smile but an expression of confusion. "Please, tell me you haven't forgotten already? Avery, we are training today, remember?" Dylan said as Avery blushed with embarrassment. How could she forget? She was looking forward to it all night, that she didn't sleep until late, due to the excitement.

"Right, right I knew that. It's just I though it was later on but never mind, I'll be there as soon as I bathe..." Avery's tone of voice started to fade when she remembered what happened the last time she tried to wash herself. But it seemed like Dylan knew where she was heading. He sighed and took hold of her hand.

"Come with me."

And just like that Avery was out of the room and following Dylan through the twisty hallways of the private quarters. Despite so many more interesting things around her, Avery couldn't stop looking at the way Dylan was holding her hand. He held it firmly like he didn't want to let go and Avery really didn't want him to.

They finally arrived at a another set of double doors and Dylan opened them and inside was an amazing bathroom. There was a marble bath and wash basin as well as a toilet. The whole place looked high class and Avery thought that the bathroom that they had in her world was expensive! Dylan let Avery's hand go making her smile drop and he walked over to a cupboard. After a few seconds he came back with a bottle of some pink liquid.

"Drink this," Dylan said as he handed the bottle over to Avery. Avery took it reluctantly and opened the lid. A potent smell came out of the bottle making Avery cough a little.

"What is this?" Avery said as she quickly put the lid on, still coughing from the strong smell.

"It's an antidote made out of rose petals and sea urchins. As well as a little magic," Dylan explained.

"Well why do you want me to drink it?" Avery said giving the bottle back.

Dylan stopped and pushed her hand with the bottle back towards her.

"Drinking it will bind your mermaid powers for a short while. Long enough for you to bathe," Dylan said as he walked over to a cupboard. "Drink up! We don't want to be late for our first day in training."

Avery reluctantly took the lid off the bottle and drank a small amount. The taste was intoxicating in a bad way, fishy as well as salty and a hint of sweetness from the rose petals. As Avery hesitantly swallowed the antidote, Avery couldn't help but pull a slight face of disgust as the taste made Avery want to throw up. Dylan noticed her expression and let out a laugh.
