A Different Reality (Lasting Love)

Schedule Confusion

"Why are you awake already?" I ask Justin "She's still asleep."

"Why are you awake?  I have to go to work."

"No." I point towards the calender "You're supposed to be off.  I always have to work today."

"Well shit."  He must remember that he didn't tell me "They called me the other day.  I completely forgot to tell you.  I can't take her with me today.  It's all meetings."

"I can't have her crawling all over set." I try to think of a solution, but know that none I come up with will work "I'll just have to take her and see if Courteney and Lisa will help watch her."

"Okay."  He hands me a mug with coffee "Sorry I forgot.  I can pick her up once the meetings are done."

"It's fine.  She's better at entertaining herself now anyway."

I go upstairs to get ready once I'm done eating while Justin gets Kayleigh ready for the day.  She's easier to take places now that she can entertain herself better, and doesn't scream all the time.  She's been crawling around and trying to put everything in sight in her mouth.  All I have to do is make sure I feed her and have toys with so she doesn't get upset.

"You ready?"  Justin asks as I walk downstairs.

"Yeah, is she awake?" I look at her car seat, but he has a blanket over it "Do I need to feed her?"

"I gave her a bottle so she's fine."  He picks up the seat carrying it out to my car "I think she fell back asleep.  She's been really quiet."

"Thanks."  I get in the front and turn the car on "Call me if you get off early."

I back out of the driveway and start driving to the studio.  Kay wakes up eventually and I hear her playing with her toys in the back.  She even manages to pull the blanket that's hiding her from the paparazzi off.  I listen carefully and can hear her mumble little "words" to herself.  They don't really sound like anything, and at 9 months old probably aren't, but it's cute.

"You wanna get out?" I ask Kay as she fights with me to unbuckle her.  She finally gives up and just reaches her arms out for me to lift her.  I carry her into set where the rest of the cast is sitting around talking. 

"So this is why you're late." Courteney laughs as she walks up and takes Kay from me "She's a cute excuse."

"She dropped her toys about halfway here and wouldn't stop screaming.  I had to pull over to pick them up." I set everything in my hands down and sit with everyone "Justin forgot to tell me he had to work today, so she's here until he can pick her up."

"Awe, well I think she should just stay all day."  Lisa starts playing with her "We'd have fun."

"Does it have teeth?"  Matt asks as Kay tries to put his finger in her mouth "Will she bite?"

"Yeah." I watch as she successfully gets his finger into her mouth before he quickly pulls it away "She's still teething.  I don't think she really knows that she's biting."

"Well you should start telling her to stop." He acts hurt waving his hand around.

"She's a baby." David stands up for Kay even though we all know Matt was joking "That would be like telling Joey something."

Matthew takes her from Courteney and plays some games with her.  It's nice to know that if I need to do something I can always trust them to take care of her.  They all play around with her causing her to laugh like crazy.  I watch them all waiting for her to decide that she's done with this and wants to do something else.

"Which one of you is making noises like that?" A writer walks towards us after hearing Kay squealing.

"Awe, it's Kayleigh!" She walks over and immediately takes her from Matthew "She's so adorable, Jen!"

"Thanks."  I smile watching as Kay swings her arms around touching everything around her.  She finds my sunglasses that are laying on the table and grabs them to put them in her mouth to chew on. 

"I think she needs a little friend."  Lisa suggests "A sibling."

"Not yet she doesn't." I reply quickly "She can wait a little for that.  She has Justin.  He's practically a baby anyway."

"But you guys should have a boy."  Courteney adds "He'd be super handsome."

"I'm sure he would." I laugh "It's just not gonna happen right now.  Maybe in a few months or a year.  I don't feel like going through all of that again already."

"You guys should wait a long time." Matt says "For all you know she could turn into the devil child.  You don't need two of those."

"Yeah, and you can have her back now."  I get handed Kay "I think she needs changed and that's not my job."

I rest Kay on my hip and notice her smirking like she knows what she did.  She continues to chew on my sunglasses as I carry her over to my dressing room so that I can change her.  I get a few of her toys out once I'm done so that she can crawl around on the floor and play while I get ready to film. 

She makes her way over to where my purse is laying against the couch and throws my sunglasses to the side.  I notice the purse moving closer to her and look over to see that she is now chewing on the handle of it.

"You're a mess." I laugh as I pick her up.  She gets pissed because I took away her "toy" so I hand her one of her plastic toys that she can chew on without ruining. 

"Hey," Court walks in the room "They're looking for you in hair and makeup."

"Shit.  Justin's not done yet."  I hand Kay to Court "Can you watch her until I'm done?  She might fall asleep."

"Yeah, of course."  She distracts her so that I can leave. 

I stand at the door for a minute and listen to Kayleigh laughing.  It's the best sound in the world.
