Chapter 44

*Jack's pov*

I quickly ran outside towards Zach's car that had crashed into a tree. Bloods were smudged over his head and his hands.

Erika walks out of her car and stood next to me "you ok" I asked looking at her arm.

She hold onto her arm and looked at me "I think I broke my arm."

I scratched the back of my head "your car looks pretty bad. You sure you only broke your arm?" I asked looking over to her car, which had crashed the back of Zach's car.

She nodded and let out a gasps when her attention was turned to Zack.

Oh shit I forgot. I quickly took my phone out and dialed the ambulance and gave them the directions.

I watched Erika as tears were forming in her eyes. She leans over her car and starred at her feet.

"I'm sorry" I admitted as I walked towards her"I shouldn't have let you drive by yourself. I'm so sor-"

"You shouldn't have followed me, plus its not your fault. I don't want you to be involved in this. You should probably go home, I don't want you to get in trouble because of me."

"But you could get in trouble!"

"I don't care..this happened probably because of me anyways"

"Then I'll be the witness"

"No! I don't want you to get in trouble, that's it." She runs her hand to her forehead "Jack just please go, I don't want you to get in trouble"

I hesitated at first "but its not your fault too"

"Then you want me to leave Zack here all alone!? She shrieked and her voice cracked when she say his name "its not that I don't want you here"

"I'm not leaving you. If you get in trouble I'm getting into it too." I stood up straight as the ambulance pulled up next to Zack's car.

Erika frowned at me which I mouthed "I'm not leaving" and shook my head.

*Erika's POV*

I watched him walked over to the ambulance as the 2 guys pulled up next to Zach and brought him into the ambulance right away.

I ran to the ambulance and got myself sat inside, next to Jack. He placed his elbow on his knees and buried his face into his palms.

Sliding my phone from my purse, I quickly texted mom and told her what happened. She said that she'll be at the hospital soon.

The ride took about 3 minutes. We hopped out of the ambulance and followed the 2 guys.

We were stopped by a nurse outside the emergency room "wait here" she ordered, shoving her palm at us.

"Can you check my arm?" I asked, making her turned around and looked at my arm with a nod.

"Follow me" she said, walking around the corner of the hall and into the room.

"Sit there" she pointed to a blue seat right next to some dental tools "where does it hurt?"she picked up my right arm which I immediately nodded.

"Alright..wait here. I'll be back" she walked out of the room with a clipboard clutched over her chest.

After getting my arm wrapped up in a cast, I head out where mom and dad were sitting. Their expression were obviously shocked.

"Are you ok? What happened? Did you get hurt? Where's Zack?" Mom started throwing questions at me.

I gave her my straight face "I wouldn't be ok if I had this cast mom" I moaned.

"That's right honey..but the important thing is that, nobody got hurt" dad stated and gave pulled warm smile.

Is he stupid? Like srsly..I got a cast on my right arm, I can't even write anymore and Zack?! He could be dying!

"Dad!! Are you crazy!" I shrieked, pointing at my arm.

"Right...ok. Let go see Zack shall we?" Dad asked, changing the topic slightly.

Walking behind my parents, we finally reached his room, where his parents and Jack were waiting outside it.

Zack's parents expression were mixed. I can't even tell the difference between them. Are they mad? Are they worried? Furious? Mad? Joy?

"Erika...thank god you're ok" Mrs John said, running up to me and gave me a hug.

She pulled away which I gave her a warm smile and looked over to Zach's room.

"What's wrong?" She asked placing her hand on my shoulder.

I shook my head and starred down at my feet.

"Don't worry..this isn't the first time this happened" Mr John butt into our little talk.

I nodded shyly. It happened because of me. This is the 2nd time he got injured because of me. Well..I couldn't blame myself of course. He's the one who drove the car......right?

I looked over to Jack, who was still sitting on the exact same place and the exact same position before I left.

Walking towards him, I hesitated before placing my hand onto his shoulder.

He looked up at me like he'd just woken up from a bad dream. Starring into each others eyes which seemed like forever, he blurt out "what?" Lifting a bit of his shoulder and stare back to his feet.

Removing my hand away from his shoulder, I took one step backward and stood still with my hand clutched over my body "do you need a ride home?"

He looked up and tightened his jaws. "Yes" he nodded "wait no..we" he shook his head "I need to get my car"

"Right" I tightened my lips together and started to head to the car park where my parents parked their car.

The car ride was pretty awesome because we literally woke up the whole world.

I'm joking.

It was quiet and suspicious if you're asking. Everyone was minding their own business while dad kept asking Jack where he left his car.

Finally, after the hundredth time asking for the directions, dad actually found Jack's car which was parked nicely next to a tree.

Mom waved him off before we took off which he replied with a forced smile.

And here we go again with the 'mind your own business car ride'. To be honest, I don't even mind because peace is my middle name.

Who am I kidding?

Dad pulled up on the drive way. I was the first one to get inside. Running as fast as I could, I made myself into my room.

I quickly change myself into my PJ's. Untying the braids on my hair, I got some messages from my friends and some from a random people; congratulating me of course.

I replied all my messages with a little sweet message of thanks and a smily face to top it of.

After what seems like forever replying to those messages, I plopped myself down on the bed.

Goodnight, I shut my eyes closed hoping for a better day tomorrow.
