Just my luck

14- His turn

I lay in bed staring at the ceiling. I think of the day I had with Daniel and how he took me to the coffee shop today. I had such a good time.
He has the most amazing laugh. He made me a vine account and I already have like 500 followers, it hasn't even been twelve hours yet. Out side the sky is clear and dark. I can't get to sleep and I don't know why. I lay with out the blankets and the air conditioner on. It's so hot outside.

I think it it around about 2:30 in the middle of the night. I haven't slept yet at all. I'm not even tired. I get bored and grab my phone. I decide to play Pokemon go. There is a Pokemon right across my street and if I go out my room I will wake someone up. So I open my window and stick my head out. It's really windy so I slowly put my leg out. Trying not to fall I slowly place my feet in the gaps of the rose climbing wall. I can't see a thing even tho the street lights are on. I eventually get down and look at my phone. It's still there.

Looking at the road for cars I cross. I get the Pokemon and walk back. As I'm about to lift my leg into my window, a big gust of wind blows, pushing me off the wall and two stories down to the soft grass. I pass out from the fall.

My eyes open and the sun is rising so I slowly get up rubbing me head. I climb back up this time successfully. I lay in my bed and fall asleep for a few hours. I wake up again and remember it's Saturday. It's now 9:00. So I get up running my hand through my hair. All us six are meant going to the movies today. I don't have a car so Daniel said he'd pick me up. The girls couldn't for some reason.

I have a shower and get dressed. When I walk downstairs mum has made me some breakfast. I eat her bacon and egg rolls and have her homemade orange juice. I go to brush my teeth. My mouth feels weird because I finally got my braces off last Thursday. My teeth are now straight! I sit on the couch and wait for Daniel while I play 1010. It's so addictive. Then I hear a knock on the door. I go to answer it and it's Daniel.
"Hey!" I say walking out the door.
"Hey, how are you?"
"Yeh alright..." I say. It's nice to see him cheerful.

I walk in front of Daniel. I'm about to get in the car but then someone walks over to me. I watch him come closer. Then he raises his fist and tries to hit me. I don't feel anything. I look up and see that Daniel has put is hand In front of me and is struggling to hold his arm. This guy could be the next John Seena, (Not sure how to spell his name.) he has that many muscles. Daniel fails to keep his arm up from hitting anybody again and the guy breaks free. He takes a swing at Daniel. I try to stop him but he throws me to that ground and takes another swing at him. I stand up and the guys friends hold me back. I can't break free.

I watch Daniel being punched in his stomach and face really hard. I'm crying pleading for them to stop. I struggle to break free but I can't. Daniel falls to the ground. They let me go and push me to the ground again. I run/crawl over to Daniel, my eyes balling with tears. Daniels face is covered in blood.
"Daniel! Daniel! Wake up! please!" I check his pulse it's very slow. I immediately grab my phone and call the ambulance. They get here within minuets. I'm still crying when they get here. They put him in the van and I go with him.

I feel terrible. I could have stopped them. He defended me and I did nothing back. I hold his hand and group call everybody.
"Guys." I say crying when they all answer.
"What happened?!" Skyla yells.
"I'm taking Daniel to hospital!" I sob.
"OMG! What happened?" Cameron replies.
"We were about to get in his car when this guy came over and tried to hit me. Daniel stopped him but then he hit Daniel. I tried to push him away but he threw me to the ground and his friends held me back making me watch him beat up Dan... After Dan fell to the ground they ran away. He is unconscious and his face is covered in blood.  His heart rate is slow." I start crying again.

"We will be right at the hospital!" They all say in unison.
"I'll text you the room number." We all hang up and I lay my head on Daniels Chest. I listen to him breath, softly.
The van stops and they open up the back taking Dan and the bed he is on with them. I follow still holding his hand. They put us in a room and they ask me to step aside. I slowly step back and they take an x-Ray of his skull. They look at the wounds and inject him with pain killer if he decides to wake up.

Not that he has a choice. They leave the room and we wait for the x-Ray results while I hold his hand. I'm scared. I squeeze his hand tight and start to sob again. A nurse comes in the room.
"I'm going to have to clean the blood and check for other wounds" she says with a soft voice. She knows I'm upset. She takes off his top. I watch her to see if she checks him out. She doesn't.

He has a bad bruise on his stomach so she puts some cream on it and cleans off the blood on his face. He doesn't have serious cuts. Just a split lip and eyebrow and a blood nose complete with a black eye. He looks terrible, I still hold his hand. After a few minuets. Shawn walks in the room followed by Taya, Skyla and Cam. They look at him then to me. "Are you ok?" Taya says hugging me.
"No." I whisper. My voice sounds funny.
"He'll be fine." Shawn says reassuring me. I don't believe him but I have to.

A male nurse walks in holding and x-Ray. I stand up still holding Daniels hand.
"There is no serious damage" he says showing us the picture. I feel a little relived. Skyla gives me a hug.
"He will be fine!" She says sounding sure.
"She's right. He will wake up and be perfectly fine" the doctor quietly says. I force a smile at him. He's trying to be nice. He walks out to leave us. Daniel still has his shirt off. Apparently the bruise needed air to heal faster.

It's lunchtime and Taya and Shawn come back from maccas giving me a medium great Angus meal. That's what I normally eat. It sits I'm my lap. I now know how Daniel felt when I was in hospital from a stupid decision.
"I feel so bad." I whisper breaking the silence.
They all look at me.
"What do you mean?" Shawn asks.
"I could have stopped them."
"They were too strong, not even Daniel could stop them." Taya says.
"Well obviously!" I raise my voice gesturing to Daniel. I look down.
"Sorry."
"It's okay." Taya says holding my free hand. "Your upset."
I smile.

I look at Daniel. Sleeping. He looks so peaceful apart from his black eye.
