Just my luck

24- a long 6 months

Amber's POV

I lay in bed staring at the ceiling. I can't help but think of how today was. I never thought I'd see Daniel again and I did and he asked me out! I feel so amazing right now. Yet I still wonder why he likes me. I mean if I were a guy I would be going the opposite way if I saw me. Maybe I should ask him. I think about when he came over earlier. We talked about what happened in the past few months. He told me about how he broke down and beat up someone today. He told me how Taya and Skyla were asking about me every week. How they missed me. I missed them too I just never realised it till now.

This week of school is the last week of the year. Daniel told me that all five of them were finishing at the end of year 10 which is this year. It was so coincidental because I'm finishing too. Daniel organised for all us six to go roller skating tomorrow after school. Tomorrow is our last day. I'm so excited. I can't get to sleep. Again. It's like two thirty in the morning. Flip sleeps next to me with his face on my stomach. I've been scratching behind his ear for the past fifteen minutes. He lays there sleeping.

In the morning

I wake up to flip licking my face. "Ewwww!" I say with a grumbly voice. My neck hurts like crazy. I must have slept on it funny. I spend five minuets sitting on my bed massaging my neck till it gets better. When it does I get up and slip into my tiger onesie. "Atchoooo!" I sneeze. My head feels dizzy, I think I have a fever. I walk down stairs making myself a cold milo. I really don't want to go to school today but I have too. We have our final exams.

I walk back to my room almost tripping over the top step and I get changed. Slowly. I feel really sick. I grab my bag and head downstairs to make my lunch. Mum and dad are at work like usual, the house is empty and quiet. Like usual. In my lunch I don't have much I just make a peanut-butter jelly sandwich and I bring a packet of sour straps to share with Alanah and Hayley. I grab my phone and slowly head to my car. I'm a bit later than usual because I was slow. I get in trying not to shake my head too much.

I drive carefully to school.

After school

The bell goes to go home. Every one who is finishing year ten is yelling and screaming with joy. I just have my hands to my ears trying to get to my locker. My headache hasn't got any better. I grab my stuff and go. Getting in the car I remember we are supposed to go bowling tonight. I promised myself I wouldn't cancel it so I drive home. I lay on my bed with an ice pack on my head. Hey that rhymes. Lol. I hear the door open with no knock. I groan. I hear footsteps walking up the stairs but I don't sit up. I just lay with my eyes closed and and ice pack and my hand on my head.

Then I hear my door squeak open. I groan again without opening my eyes.
"Are you ok?" I look up. I see Daniel standing at my door looking at me.
"Yeh I'm fine." I'm really not. I close my eyes.
"You don't look ok. You still right to come?"
I nod my head. Then I feel him sit on the bed next to me. He lifts my hand and the ice pack off my fore head and puts his hand on it.
"Dude! Your so hot."
"Thank you." I say with a cheeky smile. He smiles.
"Where is the medicine cabinet?" He says looking up.
"In the pantry," I whisper pointing the direction. He walks out. Five minuets later he comes back with some tablets and a glass of water. He puts two tablets in my hand. I look at him.
"I'm not trying to put you on drugs, I followed the age instructions." He says. I smile teasing him.
I take the tablets and swallow them with the water. Eww they are disgusting.
"Did you still wanna go? He says. I nod my head. I can't cancel.

The next thing I know I'm in the air.
"Daniel put me down." I say. He's holding me in a cradle like way.
"No."
"Daniel"
"No!"
I give in. He gently puts me in the car passenger seat. How did we get down here so fast? Then he gets in next to me on the drivers side.
"I organised to meet them there." He says looking at the road. "How's your fever?"
"Better..." I say. The tablets are helping already. I take a deep breath in and open the window. I need fresh air. We pull over in a supermarket carpark. By now my headache has pretty much gone. I get out after him. We walk in to the supermarket.

He grabs a trolley.
"Get in." He says sternly.
"Yes sir!" I say smacking my hand to my forehead like a soldier. I get into the trolley. He runs down the isles while pushing me. We grab random junk food that we pass at top speed. I can't stop laughing. The next think I know, the trolley stops at mid speed and falls. I go flying out. I don't land on the floor. I land on him.

I open my eyes. "oh hey Daniel!" I say. I get up. "Sorry." Both of us are laughing our heads off. We pick up the food that fell and put it in the trolley that I stood up. The trolley is half full of junk food. I'm trying so hard not to drawl all over it. Then 3 girls walk around the corner and as soon as they see us they stop and stare. Daniel looks at me.
"Run." He says.
We start running with the trolley. The girls chase us squealing. I can't stop laughing and neither can Daniel. As quickly as we can we swipe all of the stuff and without bags, we chuck it onto the trolley and run. The girls chase after us but get caught by the beeper things at the door. We chuck the stuff in the back of Daniels car and return the trolley. I get in the car laughing.
"That was great!" I yell when Daniel gets in the car. He can't stop laughing. He drives off and I connect my phone to his Bluetooth radio and put his song smile on really loud. We sang it together as loud as we could. Well we didn't really sing it we more like yelled it but anyway. It was great. During it I took a video and posted it on vine. I immediately got comments saying it was cute and everything like that.

We get there and I step out. By now the sun is about to set. I walk in seeing everyone sitting down. When they see us they all stand up. The first thing I see is Taya. Either she is pregnant or she had a lot of food.
