Just my luck

15- Subwey

It's been another hour and we've all been waiting for Daniel to wake up. Everyone has been on their phones while I just stare at him. Every now and then I let go of his hand so I could wipe the sweat off mine then I would hold his hand again.
"Do you mind if I go home? Mum wants me to be there for dinner, we have visitors" Taya says looking up from her phone.
"Yeh sure!" I say quietly.
"I'll drive you." Shawn adds.
"Thanks Taya says. I stand up. Taya gives me one last hug.
"Cya!" She says. Shawn waves and follows Taya.
"I have netball game that I can't miss." Skyla says suddenly.
"That's alright." I say smiling. Skyla gives me a hug too.
"Guess ill have to drive you." Cam mentions standing up.
"Could you? Thanks." Skyla kisses him on the cheek.
"Bye Amber." He says waving. I wave back and look back at Daniel.

All of a sudden the news woman walks in followed by a camera crew. I stand up. They are already videoing live. That's rude. I stand in front of Daniel. I don't want his face on just yet without his permission.
"Can we ask a few questions?"
"Umm, I guess."
"Who are you?"
"A friend." Nobody knows he has a girlfriend.
"Can you tell us the story of how he got here?" I feel like I have no choice.
"Us and a group of friends were going to the movies so he came to pick me up because I don't have a car when a guy came up and tried to hit me. Daniel tried to stop him but them he hit Daniel. I tried to help Daniel but the other guys friends held me back and forced me to watch them beat him up till he fell to the ground."
"How close is he to you?"
"Pretty...close..."
"Does he have and major injuries?"
"No but he hasn't woken up yet."
"We are very sorry."
I nod. They turn the camera off.
"Sorry. We were told we had too. Are you ok?"
"Yeh I'm fine. I didn't really want his face on the t.v without his permission."
"That's understandable. We will leave you with him. Thank you"
I wave as they leave the room.

I plonk myself on the chair and lay my head next to him on his bed and fall asleep. I wake up to someone stroking my hair. (Not in a creepy way) I look up Daniel looks into my eyes. I immediately get up and hug him as tight as I can. He sits up and hugs me too. I'm sitting on his lap hugging him like I've never had a hug in my life. I start to sob.
"You ok?" He says.
"I am now!" I chuckle. "Your eye looks really bad."
I grab a mirror of the bed side table and he has a look.
"Crap." He mumbles. I laugh. I missed his voice.
"I was terrified."
"I'm so sorry."
"You didn't do anything." I say looking into his eyes.
"I'm about to do something."
He presses his lips to mine. After today this feels so good. I kiss back cradling his face in my hands. He has his arms tight around my waist not letting me go. We kiss for minuets before he pushes my head back into his shoulder giving me a hug. His hugs are the best. I sit off the bed and text everybody saying he is up. The nurse comes in and sees him sitting up.
"Your awake. Are you ok to go home?"
"Yeh," Daniel says smiling.
"It's best for you not to drive." She says signing some papers.
"I'll call Shawn. He might be able to pick us up." Dan says. Putting his shirt on. He grabs his phone.
"He's on his way." I nod. It's now 5:00 he said he will meet us at subway. Daniel sights some papers and we walk out of the hospital across the road to subway.

"Do you know who he was?" I say as we cross the road.
"He's my ex's brother."
"Why would he do that?"
"Chantelle probably told him I broke up with her."
I assume Chantelle is Daniels ex.
I end up getting a 6 inch toasted sandwich and Daniel gets a foot long toasted sandwich. I pay through my phone. When we sit down the to starts playing a replay of the live videoing that happened in the hospital. Daniel watches is and asks the guy to turn it up. My face looks red and my eyes were teary and irritated. You could tell I've been crying. I drop my head and smack it on the table. You do end up seeing Daniels face but you can tell I was trying to hide it. My head is still on the table. He puts a hand on my shoulder.
"How long were you awake before I woke up?"
"About 5 minuets."

By the time Shawn gets here we have both finished our sandwiches. When he walks in Daniel stands up giving each other a bro hug.
"Told you." He says looking at me. I smile and look down.
Daniel looks at me then to Shawn.
"She did not let go of your hand or stop crying." He says to Daniel. Daniel looks at me again and smiles.
"I saw you guys on t.v."
"Yeh, we were just watching it." Shawn says.
We get in Daniels car.
"Would you trust me to drive?" I say.
"You can drive?" They yell shocked in unison.
"Of course I can! I have a licence." Shawn gets out of his chair and sits in the back letting Dan sit next to me.
We almost got hit once but oh well. We get to my house.
"Thanks Shawn."
"Actually, did you guys wanna come over to my house tonight? I'll invite the others." Daniel says before we get out.
"Yeh alright." Shawn speaks for both of us. We wait for the other three to reply before they all say yes.

Daniel and I get in his car while Shawn goes to pick up Taya. Daniels driving is so much better then mine. I barely get any practice. I text Taya asking if she can bring spare cloths for me because I forgot. Even tho she is so much smaller than me, I still fit in her clothes. We get there at 5:30. When everybody else gets there. We end up going for a walk outside. We walk along Daniels pool. I go to push Taya in but as she falls she grabs my hand pulling me with her and I drag Skyla down too. We all fall in the pool in our clothes. The boys jump in after us.

We have a water fight and when it gets dark we turn the pool lights on. The water glows in the dark. Eventually we get out and Taya goes to get some spare cloths for me.
"Uhhhh, Amber?" She says looking at me.
"Yeeeeeees?"
"I might have grabbed two pares of shorts instead of a top and shorts... Sorry."
I slap my hand across my face. Then Daniel runs to his room. He comes back down and chucks me a tee shirt.
"Thanks." I say smiling at him. I go in the bathroom and get changed. His top smells like him, I want to keep it, it's so comfortable.
We sit in the living room and illegally download the conjuring 2. The whole time I hide in Daniels arms. Jumping whenever something really scary happens.
