It's been a week since that disastrous event and Stiles had been avoiding Lydia, still guilty of what he had done. He was the reason why she didn't make it to the next round, the reason why she had lost. Sure, Stiles was a bit mad at Lydia for making him her accompanist but he was mostly mad at himself for disappointing Lydia.

School was over, Scott was at his after school volleyball practice while Allison was either there too or in the art classroom, working on some painting or drawing or God knows what. Stiles was relaxing in the music room as always when Lydia walked in.

"Hey Stiles," Lydia puts her bag on the floor, resting against the shelf.

"Um hey Lydia," Stiles replied and yawned.

"Let's go for a walk, you really look like you need fresh air because, no offense Stiles, but you look like a sleep deprived mess," Lydia laughed a bit, holding out her hand.

"Okay," Stiles took Lydia's hand and grabbed his stuff before both of them left.

                                                  .................................................

Stiles texted Allison, telling her that Lydia and him went ahead home as they left the school. Lydia decided that they should stop by somewhere to get a drink before going to the park nearby. They arrived at a small cafe, Lydia ordered tea and a strawberry shortcake to bring home while Stiles only ordered chocolate. As they drank their drinks while walking to the park, Lydia said:

"You know, it's not your fault. I wanted you to be my accompanist anyway."

Stiles looked at her."Yeah I know bu-"

Lydia cuts him off, "'But' nothing! I did not regret making you my accompanist, in fact I felt honored performing with you."

Stiles started again, "Lydia bu-"

Lydia placed a finger in front of Stiles lips, "Shhh Let me speak."

Stiles nodded and Lydia continued as they arrived at the park, "Anyways, I have something to tell you, something important."

"Okay tell me," Stiles said.

Lydia took a deep breath, "Before I say anything, can we sit down? I feel tired."

Stiles nodded and both of them went to the bench underneath the tree. Lydia stared at the sky, watching the sunset as Stiles looked at her. He wanted to look away but he just couldn't, Lydia was just so beautiful and there was something about her that Stiles couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Stiles cleared his throat, "So what did you want to tell me?"

Lydia was still watching the sunset when she said, "I entered your name Stiles and you got in. I entered you into a piano competition that starts next week."

Stiiles looked at her both surprised and mad, "What? Why?"

"Like I said Stiles it's about time you get out there besides, you owe me one for screwing up last week," Lydia smirked at him.

Stiles looked away, "But I screwed up last time, how do you know that I'm not gonna screw up this time?"

"Because you have me this time Stiles."

Stiles looked  at her, feeling her stare straight into his soul, "Both you and I, we're going on a journey," Lydia continued, "maybe there'll only be dark paths for you up ahead but you should keep going, believe that the moon and the stars will light up your path, even a little bit."

Lydia stood up in front of Stiles, "See Stiles us musicians get an opportunity when we get on that stage, like a new door opening every time we set foot on that stage. And do you know what's that opportunity? When there's an audience and when you play your heart out there, people will listen, maybe even get lost in the music, and you live in their hearts forever, become impossible to forget. That is why I play. So even when I'm dead, I can live in their hearts forever."

Stiles was speechless  as Lydia sat back down, "So get back out there to the music world."

It was getting late and Stiles decided to walk Lydia home. Stiles couldn't bear the uncomfortable silence anymore.

"Why are you doing this for me?" Stiles asked looking at Lydia, "I don't get it."

Lydia turned and looked at him, "Because I believe in you Stiles Stilinski. I really do."

With that Lydia held his hand and smiled at him. And at that moment, Stiles knew why he didn't want to disappoint Lydia during that competition and why he agreed to be her accompanist, and it wasn't because he was just her friend.

He fell in love with her.
