Lydia came the next day wearing a thick jacket even though it wasn't cold. Allison decided to join Lydia and Stiles in the music classroom after school. She brought brownies since her mother baked a lot yesterday.
"Just save some for Scott," Allison said as she sat down on the floor, "Scott loves my mother's brownies and will kill you if you do finish it."
Lydia laughed lightly, "Yeah okay," She turned to face Stiles who was sitting on the piano chair, eating a brownie, "Now remember Stiles, you need to determine in your mind on how you are going to play the song and think of the piano as a human being, touch it gently, it will happy and smile but press it hard and aggressively, it will be angry. Do you get what I mean?"
Stiles nodded, "Yeah yeah I do."
"Okay good, have you been practicing?" Lydia asked.
"Yeah I have. I think I'm actually getting better at the piano. Sure I still feel can't hear the notes well but the more I practice, the more I get used to the song," Stiles smiled a bit.
Lydia patted his shoulder, "Good! Now let practice begin."
Practice went on for hours, even when Scott's practice ended. Since both of them had essays to work on, they left Lydia and Stiles. It was getting dark, both of them decided to call it a day. Lydia and Stiles walked in silence for a while until Lydia said:
"Oh my gosh look!" Lydia ran and Stiles followed while calling Lydia's name over and over again.
After a while, they reached a field filled with flowers and fireflies surrounding them. The moon and the stars shone brightly beneath them.
"Wow," Lydia said, "It's so beautiful."
"Not as beautiful as you though," Stiles muttered.
Lydia heard him and punched him playfully on the arm, "That was so cheesy!" She looked away, trying to hide her blushing face, "But thank you anyways."
Stiles smiled, blushing as well, "Y-you're welcome."
They went silent again before Lydia said, "Stiles, if Scott or Allison told you to get back out into the music world, would you?"
Stiles shook his head, "No."
"Why?" Lydia looked at him.
Stiles thought about it for a minute.
Because I love you.
But all he said was, "Because they're not musicians like us. They don't know how it's like and it would be hard since I'm kinda tone-deaf," he chuckled lightly.
Lydia laughed too, "Yeah that kinda make sense," she looked around, not wanting to leave.
"Thank you by the way," Lydia said after yet another moment of silence.
"For what?" Stiles asked.
Lydia smiled at him, "For actually agreeing to do this, I thought you would totally shut me down."
"I would never do that," Stiles replied.
"But you shut yourself down," Lydia looked up, "But at least you got yourself up now, which is good. I knew you couldn't stay in that prison of remorse forever. Eventually you'll escape, get out," she looked at him again, "And I'm proud of you."
No one has ever told him this before and he was more than touched, "Lydia I'm-"
She cuts him off by wrapping her arms around him, hugging him.
Stiles became a blushing mess and used all the will power he had inside him to hug her back.
