Darkness Revealed (Part 3)

"Are you sure you can't come with us Kayla?" Ash asks as Serena, he and their few Pokemon are ready to head out to find the cave Rachel mentioned to them. "I can't, I'm sorry" Kayla replies sadly "I'm needed here but i think you'll find the cave system without me". "Thanks for everything Kayla" Ash says as he waves goodbye and walks over to his Pokemon leaving Serena and Kayla alone. "You have a great boyfriend there Serena, don't let anyone steal him from you, including me" Kayla says trying to tease Serena. "I will" Serena promises as she looks down embarrassed "I'm sorry for being so standoffish with you". "I understand, we girls don't like over females near our man" Kayla says with a smile "Besides Ash is all about you Serena". "He is the greatest" Serena smiles knowingly "Thanks for helping Ash organise our date". "You're welcome Serena" Kayla says as she wraps Serena up in a hug goodbye "Now go be with your man".

"What kept you Serena" Ash asks as he sees Serena rejoin the group and gives her a quick hug. "Just girl talk, you wouldn't understand" Serena says teasingly " Now let's go see if this cave has anything useful" "According to Rachel the cave should just be down this road a little anyway" Ash says " Lucario, Greninja can you scout ahead and see if you can find this cave we are looking for?". "Yes Master" Lucario replies thru aura as he and Lucario run off into the dark and disappear out of sight. Pikachu and Pichu who had been busy running around chasing each other climbed onto Ash and Serena's shoulder respectively and greet them affectionately as they get ready to head out. "Pichu seems to be copying her older brother" Ash says as he looks out at Pichu sitting happily on Serena's shoulder "I'm glad Pichu has opened up to you a little". "She saw has" Serena says as she scratches Pichu behind the ears "Besides I think Pichu might have a soft spot for Pikachu Ash".

"Well he did rescue her from that Pokemon attack" Ash says as he looks over at Charizard "Thanks for walking with us Charizard, I feel warmer with that tail fire of yours around". Charizard nods at Ash and points at Ash's backpack "You want that stone again Charizard?" Ash asks to which Charizard nods in agreement. "Ok buddy" Ash says as he pulls the pack off and grabs the stone "This thing is really important to you isnt it Charizard?". Charizard nods as it grabs the stone and looks at it protectively "We'll find the other half of that stone Charizard, I promise" Ash says sincerely to it. "Ash I think someone is coming" he hears Serena whisper in fear and she screams "Team Eclipse have found us again".

"Master we found the cave" Lucario aura speaks to Ash as he jumps in front of the group unexpectedly "Why is Mistress yelling?". Serena visibly sighs in relief as Ash says "Maybe next time you can let me know before you jump out at us ok Lucario". "Yes Master" Lucario says as he starts walking away " The cave is this way, Greninja is waiting at the entrance for us". "Ok, lead the way Lucario" Ash says as he slides his hand into Serena's and hangs onto it gently "You ok Serena?". "Yeah I'm fine" Serena replies "I guess I'm still a little rattled with what those Team Eclipse people did to us". "I'm never letting them near you again Serena" Ash tells her reassuringly "I promise that they'll never hurt you again". Pichu nuzzles one of Serena's cheeks affectionately and Pikachu jumps over and starts doing the same on the other side "See we have our Pokemon and they won't let anything happen to you either" Ash tells her.

"I know and I trust you to keep us all safe, you aren't the immature boy that I was travelling in Kalos with anymore" Serena replies. "Besides walking in on you in the shower was a nice wake up calls" Ash jokes as he watches Serena's face dance with 10 different shades of blush. "I thought we agreed to never discuss that again" Serena says embarassed "Who would guess a closed door means the bathroom is in use". "Pikachu did you know Serena has a birthmark shaped like a Jigglypuff on her cheek" Ash tells Pikachu. This comment causes the 2 electric mice to stare at Serena trying to locate the supposed birthmark "Not those cheeks buddy" Ash laughs as he runs for his life "Get back here Ash Ketchum" Serena screams as she chases Ash down.

Ash is standing out of breath at the mouth of a cave that is built into a cliff and looks at Lucario "Is this it Lucario?" Ash asks. "Yes Master, judging from the aura read I'm getting from the cave" Lucario replies as it senses something "A hostile aura us approaching Master". The hostile aura being of course Serena as she walks up to Ash with a look of fury in her eyes "Umm hi Serena" Ash replies timidly as Lucario backs away. Pikachu, Pichu, Charizard and Delphox all walk up to Lucario and sit down to watch a different kind of a battle. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up" Ash apoligises "I'm an idiot". "Yes you are Ash Ketchum" Serena yells at him and Ash cringes, Serena hasn't ever yelled at him before. "Summer camp" Ash blurts out not thinking and Serena stops yelling as the memory of their first meeting flashes before her eyes.

"That's cheating, you can't use that against me" Serena says as she starts to settle down "You may be an idiot, but you're my idiot". Serena wraps him in a hug and their Pokemon approach them cautiously "Master, Greninja is waiting for us inside" Lucario informs him. Ash nods as he once again grabs Serena's hand and leads the group into the cave "Pikachu can you use Flash to light this cave up?" Ash asks his best buddy who nods and concentrates as it's body begins to glow in energy causing the cave to become illuminated. "Rachel was right, these drawings are nearly exactly the same as the ones we found in the last cave, aren't they Charizard?" Ash asks to which Charizard nods. "This place is amazing" Serena says as she looks around the cave "That wall is different to the rest". Ash looks to where Serena is pointing and sees she is correct "Lets take a closer look" Ash says as he starts walking towards the wall she indicated quickly followed by Serena and their Pokemon.

"Well there's Lunala and Sungaleo keeping the balance between light and dark again" Ash says as he starts looking at the drawings on the wall. "That looks like Greninja in his special form" Serena says as she points out another drawing on the wall. "Is that Pikachu and Lucario as well?" Ash says excitedly as he points out another drawing "That must be Charizard but he looks different" Ash adds confused. "Ash" Serena yells out to get his attention "get over here, its us". "What do you mean it's us" Ash says as he walks over to Serena and is stunned by what he sees. The painting on the wall is eerily accurate, right down to their hair color and outfits. "How did someone paint us hundreds of years ago" Serena says slightly spooked "I guess this definitely proves that the prophecy is about us Ash".

"I guess so" Ash replies as he notices a small hole in the wall "Charizard can i borrow your stone for a second?". Charizard walks over and hands the stone to Ash who right away pushes the stone into the hole and it slides into place perfectly. Once the stone is in place, the cave begins to shake violently "Ash, what's happening" Serena yells. "I don't know" Ash replies as he rushes over to her "We should get outta here now". As Ash says that the shaking stops and the stone pops out of the wall which Charizard instantly retrieved "What was that all about?" Ash wonders.

"I'm guessing that" Serena points to a new extension to the cave that has just opened up "What do you want to do Ash?". "We go forward, I have a feeling we are exactly where we need to be Serena" Ash replies as he hears footsteps behind him. "Greetings humans, you are here at last, I've been waiting for you for a very long time" a voice says to him....
