6 Months Earlier - Back in Snowbelle City

"What are we going to do Ash?"

Ash is still staring outside the Pokemon Centre looking at the darkness covered landscape even though its 9am "I dont know Serena, I think you guys better call your families first and I'll go talk with Nurse Joy to see if she knows anythinv new" Ash says calmly assuming the leader role he'd mastered on his Kalos journey. "Clemont, I'm scared" Bonnie whines as she tightly grabbed her brother "It'll be ok Bonnie, lets go call dad" Clemont says as they walk away. "Umm Ash, can i come with you I'm kinda freaked out right now" Serena asks as she walks up to him and grabs his hand tightly.

The feeling of Serena's hand on his own again sent a small surge thru Ash and his heart rate increased, Ash liked this feeling of closeness with Serena and a smile appeared on his face as well as a small blush on his cheeks. "Sure Serena, if that'll make you happy but you should still call your mum later to, she will be worried about you" Ash replies earning himself a big smile from the honey blonde girl. "Hey Nurse Joy is there any new news about whats happening? " Serena asks. "Nothing to much yet but for the time being all civilian flights are cancelled until this situation is resolved and people are being urged to find somewhere safe in the meantime" The Nurse says in a slightly worried tone. "What about gym battles?" The ever battle focused Ash asks. "Also postponed until this problem is solved I'm afraid" Joy says sadly.

For the first time ever a pure look of horror appeared on Ash's face "No more battles" he says sadly as Serena giggled at him, even in an unknown situation like this she felt happy and safe around him. Hearing her giggle Ash instantly pouted "This is serious Serena, I won't have any otber gym leaders to verse for a while" which caused Serena to giggle again. "Come on my Pokemon Master lets go find Clemont and Bonnie" Serena laughs as she drags Ash away but instantly stops and blushes upon realising what she said to him. "I'm such an idiot, another moment with Ash ruined, nice one Serena" she scolded herself not noticing the small blush her comment created on Ash's face as well. "Serena's Pokemon Master" Ash's wonders " Why does thinking that create this warm feeling inside me?".

Upon returning to the siblings Ash and Serena have calmed down a little and listen to Clemont about what his father told him " My dad wants us home as soon as we can, he doesn't want Bonnie and I out here for long just in case things go worry, I'm sorry guys" Clemont says sadly. "Hey don't worry Clemont there isnt much we can do about it now anyway, if we leave now and stick to main roads we should be in Lumiose City again in 5 days" Serena says after scanning her trusty pink pokenav. "Are we all packed to head out?" Ash asks. "Yeah i packed all our gear before after I saw the news report" Clemont responds. "Ok everyone lets head out" An excited Ash says as he runs out the door instantly falling over a small rock not visible in the dark and lets out a groan of pain. "ASH" Serena yells in worry after she hears him cry out and chases after him to see him laying on the ground "Maybe we should use our torches to" Ash sighs as he gets up and dusts himself on. Serena smiles upon seeing that Ash is ok " maybe we all should hold hands to so nobody gets lost" Bonnie suggests as she pokes her tongue out at Serena. "Good idea Bonnie" Ash says as he grabs Serena's hand and smiles at her. "Does Ash like me to, have I been scared this whole time over nothing" Serena wonders.

The 4 children start their journey back to Lumiose with Clemont in the lead lighting the way using one of the many devices he's installed into his backpack. The journey back to Lumoise City is slow and full of hidden dangers, still being a little kid the darkness and the mysteries it held especially scared Bonnie who by the 3rd day of the trip home refused to leave the safety of her brothers side. With Bonnie sticking close to her brother this left Serena able to walk with Ash which made her feel quite happy and safer herself, Ash meanwhile still having these strange thoughts and feelings about Serena travelled alone as well as he could thru the darkness. Even though they were on a main travel route there was very little man-made light to help pierce the dark and so by the end of the 5th day and seeing the beacon of light that is Lumoise City poking out thru the black vale was a welcome sight for the travelling group.

Having decided before to part ways at the outskirts of the city Bonnie and Clemont bid farewell to Ash and Serena with Bonnie giving them both a hug as she starts to cry. "Keep safe you two and stay safe" Clemont says as he grsbs Bonnies hand and the 2 siblings start the walk towards the city. Once the 2 siblings are out of sight Ash and Serena start the small trip to Vaniville town and to Serena's mother "If you need to Ash you could stay at my place with me and my mum while we wait for this all to fix itself" Serena says nervously as she gestures towards the black sky. "Thanks Serena but i couldn't impose like that, I'll figure something out later" Ash says with a smile. "Are you sure?" Serena asks sadly as her daydream of her and Ash playing house together was smashed at his answer. "Well I suppose we could ask your mum if thats what you want" Ash says now being the nervous one though if it wasnt so dark right now he would have seen the pure look of joy on Serena's face at his answer.

As Ash and Serena approach Vaniville Town and walk past the 'Welcome to Vanivlle Town'sign that borders the town and overlooks a steep hill with a small pond at its base, Serena gets a feeling of happiness overcome her at being home again. This feeling is short lived however as the darkness has hidden a small loose rock that she trips over and Ash could only watch as Serena fell down the hill and the dark enveloped her leaving a stunned Ash hearing her scream and cryout his name until finally nothing but silence at all. Snapping himself out of his shocked state Ash runs off down the hill and calls out Serenas name but sadly doesn't ever get a reply. "Pikachu use Flash, we need to find Serena" Ash commands his faithful yellow rodent who replies with a nod as it unleashes the move and lights up a small area around them. "Can you see her Pikachu" Ash asks frantically and receives a sad "pika pika" from his companion as it shakes its head. Ash now getting very concerned keeps scanning the area and finally sees a crumpled heap stopped at the base of the hill, laying half submerged   in the pond below. "Serena No!!" Ash yells as he raced down to her and pulled her out of the water, only to discover that she is unconscious with her head bleeding badly and a deep gash on her leg that is losing alot of blood.

Picking her up carefully Ash rushes as fast as he can to Serenas house which luckily Serena had already given him directions for and knocks on the front door of her house loudly and yeĺls out loudly to Mrs Yvonne, hoping desperately that she is home. Luckily she is as Ash cries in relief as Grace opens the door. "MRS YVONNE, SERENA WAS IN AN ACCIDENT, WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!" Ash yells.
