JUNE'S P.O.V.:

"Okay Tristan, will you actually keep this promise?" Patrick asked, genuine worry lacing his voice.

"Yes, of course." Tris assured him, "To be honest, this one is way more important to me." He gave my hand a quick squeeze and I smiled at him, placing my head on his shoulder.

"Then it's finally settled." Patrick said.

Mark came in and greeted Patrick with a smile on his voice, unaware of what conversation we had just had. He was very intrigued to meet Patrick as he used to be a musician and wanted to know how times had changed in the music industry.

"Thank you for everything." Tristan said to Nicole as he did the rounds; thanking and saying goodbye to everyone.

"I'm going to miss having you around man." my uncle said. I was really happy those two got along as well as they did.

The only one who was actually making a fuss about him leaving, besides Tris and me was my cousin, Tom. He was saying that Tristan wasn't allowed to go because nobody would play the 'baddies'.

Tris had to promise him he'd come back soon and how he'd then happily play the 'baddies' and attack Tom's Lego Ninjago ship.

I swear, if my aunt hadn't been there, Tom would have glued himself to Tristan's leg and that might have been a problem.

Patrick had put Tristan's bag in the trunk of his car and that was when it properly hit me: Tris was leaving.

I know we promised each other that we would always try, but quite frankly it seemed too cheesy to me to actually work.

Tristan would return to his busy life in another part of the country while I was stuck in Portsmouth, trying to finish school.

Always was like something from The Fault In Our Stars or Harry Potter, probably Harry Potter knowing Tris, but that just made it even cheesier.

According to him 'always' symbolised our hope of making this work. I couldn't help but being a little sceptical.

My stepmother came to stand next to me on the pavement outside of grandparents' house and broke through my thoughts, "I like him." she told me.

"Me too." I said and it took me a second to realise how stupid that sounded, "Um, that's not what I meant. Whatever I don't even know what I mean."

"It's okay June, I understand; saying goodbye is hard."

"But I've done it before, in London." I argued.

"This time will undoubtedly be more difficult, but don't think of it as a goodbye; think of it a 'see you later'." Amelia said and she had a point, that might make it easier.

"June?" Tris walked over to me, "Yeah?" I asked.

"We are going to make this work, I promise. It's only a two hour distance, that'snot that far, you'll see." I must have looked hesitant because Tristan took my face in his hands and asked: "You know I love you, right?"

"Yes."

"Hold on to that." Tris told me, leaning down to kiss me.

"And don't worry," he added as he pulled away, "I'll annoy Patrick until he'll let you come over. And you know me, that won't take much effort so you'll see me soon, I promise. And then you can meet the boys!"

I smiled at that last part. That would feel so unreal; hell this still felt unreal.

"I know I keep saying this, but June, you and Mike would be such good friends, you're so alike."

"I hope so." I heard myself say, once again I had felt myself get lost in the gorgeous blue of Tristan's eyes.

"Tristan, hurry up. It's almost rush hour." Patrick said, getting into the car.

"This is it." I said, "This is it." Tristan agreed.

I wrapped my arms around his waist and pulled him as close as physics would allow me to. Tristan hugged me back just as fiercely as I was hugging him.

"Okay, I think you should maybe go." I whispered.

"But I don't want to." Tris whined in my ear.

"Come on." I pushed Tristan away from me and lead him to the passenger seat. Tristan slowly got in, closed the door and rolled the window down.

"Always?" he asked me.

I leaned in and quickly kissed his lips lovingly as a goodbye or a see-you-later or whatever.

"Always."
