chapter fourteen

Dan's P.O.V

I can't put into words how badly I want to, and how badly I need to forgive Phil.

Phil was my first love. Phil was my saving grace. It wouldn't be going to far to say that Phil was my hero.

And then he wasn't.

He screwed it all up, just for a little kiss with my best friend. My best friend.

After everything, he still cheated on me with my best friend.

"I really do love you," he repeats, breaking me out of my thought process.

I pause for a moment, regaining my sense of reality.

"Okay."

Morning.

"Good morning, sunshine," Phil says as soon as he sees me open my eyes. He's on the other side of the room, hunched over in the corner. He sets down his phone. His piercing blue eyes seemed to almost look right through me, and it felt like he knew what I was thinking.

"Hi, Phil," I replied simply. The smile on his face wavers for a second, and he almost seems to look sad in that moment. Then, almost within the blink of an eye, he returns back to being cheerful.

"How are you? Do you want to do something today? We can go to the mall!"

"I'm still tired. I just woke up, for fucks sake. It's like 7:00am how are you already so happy?"

He checks the time. "7:30, actually. I'm just a morning person, though. Sorry! I'll go make you breakfast."

At that, my eyes open up as wide as possible in panic. My mother doesn't know he stayed. "Hey, no, wait. Come back." I open up my arms, almost as an invitation, knowing he'd accept it.

He paused, staring at me for a moment before walking back over to me, laying down on the bed and wrapping his own arms around me as I do the same.

"I love you," he says again.

"I like you a lot."

Author's Note: Yo!!! Sorry this chapter is short, something came up and I was writing to keep my mind off of it at first but I became extremely stressed so I ended it and I'm probably going to go eat to help me feel better.
