sadness

"Kirsten, wake your lazy ass up!" I yell from the kitchen. I hear her groan but she comes into the kitchen.

"Why can't I just go back to sleep?!" She mops around the table.

"Because the rent has to be paid." This is our morning routine. She's mad because she needs sleep and I remind her that the bills have to get paid.

"Easy for you to say, you don't have to worry about smelling like gas."

"You don't have to worry about sitting at a desk all day."

"Sounds fun to me."

"Well it isn't." I go get my purse and put on a little lipstick. "Have a nice day."

"I'll try. Same to you." I get in the car and head to work. I wish I had a car I could actually call mine. This is actually my uncle's. Money isn't something I'm blessed with a lot of.

"Hi Ashley." The woman at the front desk says as I walk in.

"Hey. Anything going on today?" I ask.

"Um there's a meeting at twelve noon."

"Alright thanks." I go to my office and take a seat. Pam comes by and knocks my papers down. I roll my eyes and continue on with my work. I couldn't stand that vile woman. She thinks that just because she has money that she's better than everyone.

I swear I just want to smash her head through a glass table.

"Your numbers have gone up by 5%, Jenkins." The boss says at the meeting.

"Yes sir but I have closed 50 deals in two months." I say confidently.

"That's good but do better." I nod in response. This meeting is so boring. I can't wait until two o'clock so I can eat.

I walk to the café I always go to for my lunch break.

"The usual?" The cashier asks.

"You know it." I smile. I take my meal and sit down.

"Hi." Kirsten sits down in front of me.

"Finally got a lunch break I see." I laugh.

"For the record I always get one I just don't always come here."

"Ok whatever you say."

"So how's the day been going so far?"

"Its been ok. We had a meeting today."

"Is Pam still being a bitch?"

"Oh yea you know she is."

"What about John?"

"He hasn't spoken to me today."

"That's new."

"The day isn't over yet so he still has time."

"Well some guy got his car worked on and asked me if I did house calls because his other car needed to be worked on, if you know what I mean. To make it worse he was old. How about that?" I notice someone walk into the café. I come in here like everyday and I've never seen him before.

I would've remembered him for sure.

"Ashley? Ashley!" Kirsten yells.

"Oh I'm sorry what?" I shake my head to clear my thoughts.
