Chapter Eight - Secret Embraces

I look out onto the waves, Dolphins were jumping over the waves.

"Why is love so confusing?" I sigh and rest my chin on my tanned knees.

"Because love is full of surprises." Calvin says while sitting down next to me. "I heard you and Malachi arguing.." He puts his arm over me.

"It was pretty....heated." I sigh. "I just don't know what to do..." I look at him. He always seemed to make things calm...like time was slowing down.

"Just let things cool down, I'm sure he'll forgive you..." He trails off.

"Is something on your mind?" I ask him.

"You're starting school tomorrow right?" I nod my head at him. "Well, I'm coming with you. Your mom said so." He smiles cheekily.

"Awesome." I smile at him.

"I thought you wouldn't want me too.." He starts.

"Why wouldn't I?" I look at him confused.

"Because of this!" He picks Neil and jumps in the water with me in his arms.

"CALVIN!!" I shout.

He laughs and kisses me on the cheek and puts his arms around me. "I love you. And I'll never let you go...not easily at least." He whispers in my ear.

I laugh quietly. He water around us made peaceful sounds and we swayed in the water together. "I love you too Calvin.." I murmur.

"You look tired.." He points out.

"Yeah.." I say tiredly.

"Come on then. I'll take you home." He helps me out of the water and takes me to my house.

I almost fell asleep a few times while we were walking so Calvin had to keep yelling at me to keep me awake.

Calvin knocks on the door and my dad answers. He raises an eyebrow at him them looks down at me.

"Where were you missy? You can't be out without our knowledge anymore!" He scolds me.

I yawn quietly and nod my head.

"S-She's tired, and I wanted to take her to you so she could go to b-bed.." Calvin gulps.

"Alright. Bring her inside and I'll take her up to her room." He brings Calvin inside so he could lay me down on the sofa in the living room.

"Alright.. I'll go put her to bed..have a good night Calvin." Dad waves him off and he waves goodbye to me before leaving..
