"Stiles?" said Lydia casually with her eyes glued to the T.V.; her hand holding a slice of warm gooey pizza.
"Mhm?" Stiles responded with a huge bite of cheesy mess in his mouth, stuffing in a few pieces of fries afterwards. Depending on how cute you would consider Stiles this is just a baby step into his hugging personality.
"I have something to say" Lydia let out as she switched her position so that she could face Stiles, her back leaning onto the couch's arm pad, her hands wiping against each other with sprinkles of crust drifting off.
"Don't you always?" Stiles quickly glanced at Lydia before staring back at the screen.
"No, seriously" Lydia laughed as she pushed Stiles playfully.
"Okay, sure, what's up?" Stiles shifted to face Lydia as she did with him, his hand still holding garlic bread.
"This can go two ways" Lydia began, puckering her lips trying not to smile and to be honest she doesn't even know why she wanted to smile yet.
"I'm confused, where are you going with this?" Asked Stiles. "I didn't do anything wrong right?"
"No y-"
"Am I dying?" Stiles stopped chewing in shock.
"No, shhh, listen" Lydia laughed. "It'll either get really really awkward or, hopefully, it won't"
"Okay...?" Stiles dragged off, putting down the rest of his garlic bread.
"Okay, so-", Lydia breathed in, "We have this... thing", she gestured.
"What thing?" Asked Stiles, still not following what's going on.
"This... thing.... you know?" Lydia hinted moving her hands around trying to knock some understanding into the questions in front of her.
"What?" said Stiles, his face still full of confusion.
"Oh my god- I don't even know what it is. But like the eye contact! The comforting! All these things!" Lydia intoned with mixed feelings.
"Oh" Stiles let out. "Um- I didn't expect this, I thought it's like..." he trailed off, "um..".
"Like I don't know what this is but I'm curious sometimes" Lydia's lips curved into a soft, shy smile, somehow still speaking in confidence which is one of the things that made Stiles so intimidated by her sometimes.
"Well, sure, me too, I guess" Stiles fiddled with his fingers.
"You feel it too though, right?" Lydia asked, waiting to be reassured.
"What do you think? You know me." Stiles asked, self-deprecating with a small chuckle; feeling something grow inside his stomach.
"It's like running to the edge of a cliff but never jumping because you don't know what's gonna happen when you jump, you know? It's like running back and forth" Lydia explained.
"So this thing? You're describing it as a suicide?" Stiles squinted his face in questions.
"No, no" Lydia laughed. "I don't know, it makes it easier to put in words but it's not like death obviously (She rolled her eyes), I'm saying I'm tired of running back and forth. Like I want to do something about it to see what it really is, you know?"
"We can always lock ourselves dead and see what happens before we go out of our minds" Stiles suggested.
"Don't be silly" Lydia chuckled.
"Okay, I know what to do, we do simple like tests, or something, and see what happens afterwards" said Lydia thinking about the ideas over and over in her head.
