A Day In The Life

Chapter 20

Keegan's pov

         I've never been so sleep deprived before. The twins wake up all hours of the night but not to mention this wound takes forever to heal. The medication helps with the pain and Dr Lucas says I should be fine in about another week, that's a plus.

     I woke up early. I climbed out of bed and checked on Asa and Wesley. Wesley was awake just laying there staring up at the ceiling. I smiled as I picked him up then went downstairs. I warmed up a bottle by running it under warm water the fed him. I changed Wesley then placed him in the baby bouncer as I made something to eat. Wesley made little noises. "I wish you could eat real food instead of just milk." He looked at me as Austin came downstairs with Asa. "Hey," he said. "Morning." "This little fella woke up." Austin kissed me the grabbed a bottle put the fridge and placed it in the microwave. "No," I cried! "What?" "The microwave will make the bottle way too hot for them so you run it want warm or hot water for fifteen to twenty minutes." "You didn't have to scare me." "I'm sorry." Austin took the bottle out the microwave and ran it under hot water.

       After breakfast the twins went back to sleep and so did I. When I woke up later on that day I felt a lot better than sleep deprived. Austin was asleep on the couch. Asa and Wesley were in their baby bouncers asleep. I smiled as I took a picture. "Austin," I said softly. "Hmm?" "I'm going to shower wake up." "We'll be fine." "Ok but they'll be waking up soon." "I got this baby girl go shower." I went upstairs and took out a pair of yoga shorts and a tank top. It feels nice to be back to my normal size despite the swelling. I went upstairs and undressed then took a shower. While I was in the shower I some how managed to slip and fall. I shrieked in pain and managed to rip my stitches. "Austin," I cried! I heard footsteps come up the steps. The bathroom door opened then the shower curtain was ripped opened revealing Steve. He threw a towel over me then picked me up. "You're ok," he said. "Austin!" Steve carried me downstairs. "What happened?" "I fell." Steve placed me in Austin's arms as he called 911. "Help is on the way," Steve said. That's the last thing I heard before everything went black.

       When I woke up I was in the hospital. Dr. Lucas was in the room along with Austin and Danno. "Good you're awake," he said. I slowly sat up. "We're keeping you over night because you did rip your stitches and you lost a lot of blood. Lucky for you, you have a universal blood type. I'm also prescribing another bottle of pain medicine." I nodded as Steve walked in with the twins. "How's their mommy," he asked? I smiled. "I'm staying over night." Austin placed Asa in my arms then he held Wesley. "Did you know I have a universal blood type?" "Yup O positive." Asa made a little sound then smiled. He's going to be a mommas boy. "Uh I bought you both a change of clothes and I bought everything you might need for the twins. I don't know if I bought everything. I never taken care of babies before." I shook my head as a yawn escaped my mouth. Danno took Asa from me. "I'll make sure he doesn't turn you sons into little navy ninjas." I nodded as I laid down and went to sleep.

      I apparently slept up until the next day. The nurses woke me up few times but I went right back to sleep. It felt nice to sleep through the entire night. When I woke up I got dressed then went to sign a few papers. Austin was outside waiting for me. He walked over and hugged me. "When did Steve and Danno leave," I asked? "Uh sometime after you went to sleep. They stayed at the house with me." "Kiss." Austin pressed his lips against mine. I smiled. "You had coffee." "Yeah Wesley and Asa kept crying all night long. Danno managed to get them to stop for a while but they started to cry again." "They miss me as much as I miss them." "I told Steve I was taking you out for breakfast so let's go get pancakes." I smiled. Austin helped me in the car then we drove to the diner. We sat in our normal booth waiting to order. "Austin I'm hungry," I said. "Ok we're just waiting for someone." "Who?" "Us," said Maddie. I turned my head and looked at Maddison and Lucas. I smiled as I stood up and hugged them. "Congratulations," Maddison said. "Thanks."

     It was nice to sit down and talk with Maddison and Lucas. I haven't seen them in forever and I miss them. "So what's it like being a parent," Luke asked? "It's fun but I've been sleep deprived for almost three days but I caught up last night." "Last night wasn't fun for me. Wesley and Asa cried for hours." "You don't have boobs bro." We all laughed. "Oh please no. It hurts to laugh." "I heard you fell in the shower." "Geez Austin tell everyone." "Are you ok?" I nodded. After breakfast Austin and I went home. I was so excited to see my babies! They both were in their bouncers. I gave them both a kiss. Steve and Danno were asleep on the couch. I didn't want to wake up the babies so I left them right there as I went upstairs and dropped my bag. I went back downstairs. Austin was in the kitchen. He stopped what ever he was doing and hugged me. I hugged him back. "I love you," he whispered. "I love you too." Austin leaned down and kissed me. He ran his fingers through my hair. "How'd I end up so lucky?" "I ask myself the same thing." Austin chuckled then kissed me. Austin put his hands on my waist pulling me close. I broke the kiss as I winced in pain. "My wound love," I said softly. "I'm sorry I forgot." "It's ok. Just he gentle." Austin nodded.

      Austin carried the twins upstairs one at a time and put them their cribs as I went to lay down. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was asleep. I thought I was caught up on sleep. Turns out I lied. When I woke up Austin wasn't in bed. I walked across the hall to see him playing with Wesley. Asa was asleep. I stood in the door way and smiled. "There's mommy," he said. I waved to Wesley. "I bought you food from Kamekona's. It's on the table and you have a coconut water in the fridge. Lastly they need more milk." "Did you wash the bottles?" "Yeah." I nodded as I walked off. I slowly walked down the steps. When I reached the first floor I sat at the table eating then I took my medication then I filled more bottles." Austin came downstairs with Wesley. "Asa is waking up," he said. I took Wesley and held him. "Hi baby," I said. "You probably don't care about what I'm saying but I love and you're brother. I never would've thought the first I would sleep with someone I'd end up pregnant with you two." Wesley stuck his tongue out. I chuckled.

     I can't wait until they start running around and playing. I'm absolutely in love with Asa and Wesley. They're my world. I never thought I would have them at eighteen but I guess the saying things happen for a reason is fifty percent true. I like to say things happen based off of choices. The choices I've made in the past aren't looking to shabby now.
