A Day In The Life

Chapter 2

Austin's POV

         I laid across my bed staring up at the ceiling. I grabbed my phone off the side table and looked at the time. I sighed. It's 4:30am and I have to get up in a few hours. I climbed out of bed and went into the kitchen. I grabbed a glass out the cabinet then grabbed a the apple juice out the fridge. I prefer orange juice but Lucas drank it. While I was in the kitchen there was a light tap in the door. I knew it was Keegan. I smiled. During the summer we would alternate days to visit each other during the night. Steve hated that but he trusts me with his daughter's life-- I wouldn't say life but he trusts me enough to be alone with her.

      I walked over to the door and opened it. Keegan was standing there. She had a goofy smile plastered across her face. "Does Steve know you're here," I asked? "Yes." "Are you going to school from here?" "Yes." I grabbed her hand and pulled her inside. I shut the door. I turned around as Keegan plopped on the couch. Lucas walked out his room. "Dude why-- hello Keegan," he said. She waved. "I'll just go back in my room." Lucas turned around and walked back in his room. Keegan looked at me."He wasn't here over the summer," she said. "I know. He's my best friend and his ex kicked him out right before school started." Keegan rolled her eyes as she wrapped herself in the blanket I left on the couch. I sat next to her. "I can't sleep," she said. "Neither can I." "What's your excuse?" "I don't have one but what's yours." "So much thinking on my mind." The room went silent. When Keegan thinks sometimes she over thinks and other times she thinks about her mother.

        At some point I fell asleep. Late the next morning Lucas ran through the house yelling. "Dude get up," he said. "Go away?" "We all over slept. Where's Keegan?" I rubbed my eyes and looked next to me. Keegan was there but she was just buried under the blanket. She groaned as Lucas went back in his room. Keegan sat up and went in the bathroom. She's spends about twenty minutes in there. I quickly got dressed. I stood in the mirror. My hair was all over my head. I ran my fingers through my hair making it look so what decent. When Keegan finally came out the bathroom I grabbed my keys and her bag then we left. The school day was long and I'm starving. After I got my food I went and sat down with Keegan, Maddison and Lucas. "Hey," I said. I kissed Keegan's cheek as I sat next to her. "How was your day?" Keegan shrugged as I took one of her carrots. I dipped in what ever she had and ate. As soon as it touched my taste buds I spit it out. The flavor was disgusting. Keegan laughed. "What was that," I asked? "Quinoa dip. Isaac makes it for me." "Who would eat that?" Keegan looked at me the rolled her eyes. I stopped and stared at her. I love Keegan with all my heart. She's my world. I can't imagine life without her. I wrapped my arm around her pulling her close. I placed a kiss on her forehead. "Austin," Keegan squealed. I smiled.

      After lunch Keegan went to soccer practice with Maddison while Lucas and I went to lacrosse practice. Practice was fine I guess. It was tiring. I waited for Keegan so I could take her home. When soccer practice finally ended Keegan ran over with a smile plastered all over her face. I smiled back at her. "By that smile I'm guessing you made the team," I said. "I won't know until tomorrow but coach said I did good." "Cool." "How was lacrosse?" "Umm tiring but we can talk about that on the way back to my house."  "I'm going to Isaac's but my car is at your house." I nodded ad Keegan crashed her lips onto mine. "I love you," I said. Keegan smiled. "I love you too.. We got in the car and went back to my place. Steve was there. Keegan hopped out the car and greeted her father. I climbed out and walked over to Steve. I shook his hand. "How are you?" "I'm fine and yourself?" "Came to check on Keegan." "Daddy," she whined. "I know but you weren't answering any of my calls." "Isaac and Nate want me to go over?" "Go ahead. Do you have a uniform." "I can wash the one from today." "Ok." Steve kissed Keegan's forehead then left. After Keegan gathered her things and left I took a shower and did some homework. My night was pretty bland. Lucas had company so I stayed in my room. Talking with Keegan. I miss her even though I saw her earlier today.

       I always loved on conversations. Between the small little laughs and stupid arguments I seemed to fall head over heels for her. Keegan and Steve are my family, well besides Lucas and my actual family but you get the point. A year with the McGarrett family is like a life time. Keegan is such a fun loving person I can't think of a reason not to fall in love with her. As for Steve he hated the fact we were dating but he came around. He also can come off as stubborn but he'll come around. Lucas will be Lucas. Basically what Im trying to say is good things come to those who wait. I'll explain a little later on down the road.
