A Day In The Life

Chapter 3

Keegan's POV

      I was laying across the couch in Isaac and Nate's house. This past week of school wasn't so bad. I like my new school. Why didn't I do this a long time ago. Oh right the secret life my mother had. I haven't been home in about three days but I've been planning to do something special for Steve's birthday tomorrow. He'll be about thirty five I think or thirty six. Just to be safe I just won't get any candles for the cake. I sat up and grabbed my laptop. I video chatted with Steve. He's at work but that's ok. "Hey," he said. "Aloha." "When are you coming home?" "I can come home tonight." "You will be home tonight." "Yes sir." I saluted Steve. He laughed. "I'm taking tomorrow off." "Uh ok. Are you excited for your birthday?" "No not really." I frowned my face. "Were you planning something," Steve asked? "I can't say but I'll be home with you tonight." "Where are your brothers?" "Nate is sleeping he worked over time twice this week and Isaac is on a date." "Oh ok. I have to go but I'll see you tonight.." "Ok I love you dad." "I love you too Keegan." I shut my laptop and began to pack my things so I can go home.

      While I was packing my things Isaac came through the door. I kicked off his shoes and plopped on the couch. I looked back at him as he looked at me. I looked away as he groaned again. I laughed. Isaac groaned again. I continued to ignore him. All of a sudden Isaac let out this high pitched scream. I groaned. "Are you just going to ignore me," he asked? "How was your date Isaac," I said sarcastically. "My date ditched." I walked over and plopped on the couch next to him. "I'm sorry." "Uh don't be I ended up with a different girl who sat and talked with me." "You went to dinner?" "After the I left the museum of science." "Is she prettier than your date?" "Hell yeah and as I'm sitting with this girl she seemed more interested in me." "Well Isaac I don't know what to say. I've only been in a relationship for about six months." "Where are you going?" "Home, Steve wants to spend time with me." "Alright call me when you get home and don't tell Steve about his party." "I won't." Isaac helped me take my things to my car then watched me leave.
 
    When I got home there was a package on the steps. It was for me only. I sighed. Steve's truck was outside. I took out my keys and unlocked the door. I kicked off my shoes and tossed the on the steps as I tossed the package on the couch. I placed my keys in the bowl on the coffee table. "Dad," I said. I walked through the house. "Dad," I repeated. I walked up the steps. "Steven  John McGarrett." I still didn't get a response. When I reached the top Steve walked out his room. "Yes, Keegan Marie McGarrett," he said. "You didn't have to through my full name out there." I walked over and hugged Steve. "I want ice cream," I said. "After we eat." Steve smelled like perfume and not the cheap kind. I buried my nose into his shirt. He smelt like fruity goodness. "Who's she," I asked? "What?" "Who's your lady friend." "What lady friend?" "I don't know. You tell me." "Dad?" "Her name is Laura and she came over earlier today." Of course she did.... Laura!" Steve placed a hand over my mouth as his bed room door opened. "Yes," she said. We both looked behind Steve. Laura is pretty. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. She tall and slim like a model. I waved. "You must be Keegan," she said. I nodded as I pushed Steve's hand off of my mouth. "I've heard so many good things about you." "Hopefully good things." "Of course." My phone vibrated as I shook her hand.  I took it out my pocket. "McGarrett," I said. Steve laughed. "Hey." "Austin!" I went in my room and laid across my bed. I spoke with Austin for a while.

     I went downstairs to see Danno sitting there. I smiled as I went over and plopped next to him. He groaned in displeasure. "Where's Steve," I asked. "In the kitchen." "How's it going?" "It's going." "You're boring." Steve walked out of the kitchen and sat next to me. He smiled. I smiled right back. "How are you guys," I asked? Danno looked at me and sighed as Steve nodded. "It wasn't too bad," he said. I sunk into the couch as I texted Austin. This kid makes me feel things I can't explain. My heart skips a beat every time he's near. Every time we kiss it's like the first time. Austin Rose what are you doing to me. We can't go a day without speaking and I can't imagine not speaking to Austin. "Dad," I said. "What?" "Can I tell you something?" Danno sat up straight. "Umm it's about Austin." "Oh please don't say your pregnant." "What?! No but I like him. I like him a lot. He makes me happy and words just can't even explain how I feel." "You know he said something like that about a year ago," Danno said. I sunk further into the chair.

     As my father and Danno schooled me on guys, I realized something. I realized that I should sit back and wait. Austin is one of the best things on this island. He's my best friend and had become a part of my family. I remember meeting Steve and Danno for the first time. I remember how I felt. I felt nervous and scared. I was afraid of Steve turning me away. I'm glad Austin was my tutor when I was being home schooled. I have made so many memories over the last year. I can't wait to see what else is in store for me. As for now I'll sit here with two of my favorite people in the world.
