Chapter 4

{Alanis}

I wake up on this Saturday to my parents screaming at each other, again. Probably about something dumb. I walk out of my room, and see my younger brother, Joseph, crying in his room next to mine. I walk in and sit down next to him. "I hate how they fight all of the time." He says in a sad, raspy voice. "I know, me neither. What if we get out of here. Is there anywhere you want to go?" I say nudging him with my shoulder. "Well" he wipes a tear away "I was supposed to go to Elliot's house today, will you walk me?" I smile. "Yes, cmon get your shoes on"

We go out the light the back door so we don't get in between our parents fighting. We walked to go to his friends house and I drop him off. "I'll pick you up at 8:00 Joseph!" I shout to him "okay thank you Alanis!" He shouts back and then slams the door.

I don't really want to go home so in just going to walk around town for a while. I make my way to the neighborhood next to mine. I turned the corner and bumped into someone, it knocked me down. "I am so sorry, I didn't mean to. It's my fault. Here let me help you up" a familiar voice says. I look up to see Michael standing with his hand out "Michael?" I say grabbing his hand and stand up dusting myself off.
"Oh hey Alanis" he's smiling very widely. "Sorry about that, I didn't see you coming" he said sheepishly.
"Oh it's okay. I should've watched where I was going."

"So where you headed to pretty lady?"
I blush and respond "no where, I was dropping my little brother off at his friends. What about you?"
"I was actually on my way to band practice in Luke's garage. Would you, uh, maybe want to come watch?" His face turns a little red and he scratches the back of his head. Oh my gosh, the Michael Clifford is awkward to ask me to hang out with him. I'm glad he's okay with only being friends. "Yeah that sounds fun." I finally respond. "But I'm just a friend. Think of my as one of the guys, okay? Nothing more." I continued.
He laughs "you're the prettiest guy I've ever seen". I just smile and roll my eyes.

The 4 boys sing and play their instruments. They sounded so good! I clapped and cheered for them. They just finished the song and we're talking about how it sounded. "What do you think Alanis?" Michael said looking towards me. "I think you guys sound AWESOME!" I said, putting a lot of emphasis into my words. I feel an arm wrap around my waist, I turn to see a tall blonde boy standing next to me. It's Luke. "Thanks beautiful" he says to me. I look up to him and I feel my face heat up.

I look back over and see Michael looking at him, seeming kind of annoyed. I break the silence and say "well I have to go pick up my brother, thanks for letting me watch your band you guys sound awesome."
"Bye" Luke says hugging me tight and winking.
"Bye bye it was nice to meet you!" Calum exclaimed while hugging me.
"Later" Ashton says not paying much mind to it.
"I'll walk you out." Michael says pulling me out. He hugs me and let's me walk out. "Text you later" he says as I walk away.
