Chapter 22

{Alanis}

I wake up alone in my room. Today's the day I finally get to see Chance again.

I hop out of bed. I guess it's not until 5:30, I'll go see how 5sos is doing and wish them all luck.

I see Michael and Ashton's car at Luke's so I assume they're all there. I knock on his front door and his mother answers. "Hi Mrs. Hemmings, is Luke and his friends in the garage?" I asked her.
"Yep, go on in." She scoots over so I can come in.

I walk through the door to the garage.

"Hey Precious!" Michael says putting down his guitar and hugging me. I say hi to everyone else. I listen to them rehearse for a while.

Before we knew it, it was 4:40 and we all had to go. "Okay guys good luck on your gig, I know you're gonna do amazing!" I hug the boys and give Michael a quick kiss before I leave.

I get home and my heart is racing. I don't know why, but I'm nervous to see Chance. It's been long, but it's not like we're going on a date or anything.

I put on my black grunge jeans and a Beatles band-tee. I slip on my black converse and fix my makeup and hair.

I'm ready.

My mom drops me off at Sticky Fingers, the ice cream shop, and I see a boy with familiar fluffy black hair and green eyes holding a sign that says "Alanis, it's me!". He seems a lot taller and more in shape. He looks good.

I wave and he sees me. He instantly smiles and makes his way over to me, I jog over to him and wrap my arms around his neck. We sit for a minute just hugging. I finally pull away.

"Oh my gosh you're really here! You look so old but like, still the same." I say to him.
"You too, I mean you look really good."
"So want to go in?"
"Yea lets go."

We walk in and sit at a table in a corner next to window after we order two vanilla dipped cones.

"So what's new? How's your mom?" I asked him after a minute of silence.
"My mom is great, pretty much the same and well I started playing football and I really like it. I'm pretty good at it too. I'm hoping to get a scholarship for it."
"That's good! I'm glad you found something you like to do."
"Yeah. Well enough about me, what's new with you? How's your family?"
"Well my brother is great and I haven't really seen my mom in a while."

I look at my lap trying to think of what to say. I lick my ice cream and continue

"But my dad is doing pretty great."
"What happened with your family?"
"I'll tell you the whole story later. So any girlfriends or I don't know, boyfriends?"

He laughs at my last words. His laugh still sounds the same, and his smile is still the same. I'm so glad to be with my best friend again.

"Well definitely no boyfriends, but I actually just got out of a pretty serious relationship, but we broke up because I left. What about you?"
"I'm sorry about that, but yea I'm actually in a relationship right now. We've only been dating for about 3 months, but I really like him. He's actually in this band and I feel like all of you guys would get along well."
"That's cool, I'll have to meet them over the school year." We both laugh and continue to eat out ice creams.

We talk for about an hour longer just catching up. I missed him so much.

He drives me home and walks me to my door.

"Thank you so much for meeting with me. I'm really glad we're gonna be spending this next year together."
"Me too." I hug him and we say our goodnight's.

I check the time and it's already 7:40.

I sit down on my bed and check my phone and see a few messages from Michael.

From: Boyfriend <3 (Mikey) at 7:02pm
Hey baby girl we just finished our gig and we rocked! ;)
From: Boyfriend <3 (Mikey) at 7:10pm
Hey just checking in on you and making sure he isn't raping you or anything O.o
From: Boyfriend <3 (Mikey) at 7:17pm
Alright I know you probably aren't being raped. Text me if you need anything. Love you <3

I smile at the texts. He's so sweet, I love that he cares about me. I respond to his texts, letting him know that I'm okay.

I lay down and drift off to sleep.
