Chapter 34

I get home and put my backpack in my room. I walk down to get an apple since I haven't eaten all day and figure I probable should.

I start to walk back up to my room when I hear a voice call my name "Alanis, honey! Please come down stairs and visit with your family for once!" Great. It's my dad.
"Okay dad!"

Ugh, I'm not in the mood to 'be with family'. I've already had a bad week then now I have a lot to think about.

I sit on the couch next to my little cousin, Shayna, who recently. She's a year younger than Joseph, so she's only 13, but she's cool.

"Hi guys" I awkwardly say.
"Anyways, I was thinking tonight for dinner we order a pizza then watch that movie you wanted to see? Uh—Bug-man?" My dad says to my little cousin. Causing us all to giggle at his failed attempt at the movie name.
"Its Ant-man, Uncle. But I like that idea." She smiles. I love her smile. It's so sweet and innocent.

We put on the movie not long after the pizza man delivers two pepperoni pizzas.

As soon as the movie starts we all dig in to the greasy, delicious food.

It's about 30 minutes into the movie and my Dad is snoring like a train so none of us can hear the movie. I hear the doorbell so I stand to go answer it. I wonder who's coming over at 10:00 at night.

I open the door and see Ashton standing. "Hey, can I come in?" I can't help but smile when I see him.

"Yeah of course, come joins us. Me and my cousin and brother are just watching a weird movie."

We walk to the couch and I introduce Shayna and Ashton since Joseph already knows him.

We just talk to each other instead, eating some of the two pizzas we had ordered.

It stays really quiet for a while.

"So Shayna, any boys you interested in?" I nudge her with my shoulder, breaking the silence. Her face turns red.
"Yeah, his name is Zane. I really like him."
"Does he like you back?"
"Yea I think so. He always—" she starts but is interrupted by Joseph.
"Nope. Probably not."

She punches him in the arm causing him to jump. "Owe!"

Shayna starts to laugh so hard she snorted, which made us all laugh so hard. "Oh my gosh—hahaha—My stomach—haha—it hurts!"

I laugh into Ashton's chest as he was laughing along.

We laugh for about 5 minutes straight.

"I haven't laughed that hard in a long time." I say wiping my eyes from the tears of laughter.

Shayna and Joseph both yawn almost in sync. "Okay I'm gonna go to bed."
"Me too."

So they both go to the rooms they were sleeping in, leaving me and Ashton alone. "Can we go to your room?" He says, motioning to the fact that my dad was asleep right next to us.
"Yeah."

When we get in there I sit on the bed and he sits next to me. "So why'd you come here tonight?" I ask him.
"I just missed actually hanging out with you. It's been a while since we have. I know that thing happened the other day but I think we can ignore and just be friends."
"Okay. I like that idea." I smile and cuddle into a ball on the bed.
"I'm gonna go, I'll see you tomorrow Alanis." He says rubbing my back.

I mumble a few random words to him and he just giggles and walks out of the room.

I missed Ashton. I really did.
