Chapter 44

{Alanis}

I wake up to see Michael facing the other way. I check my phone and see it is already 9:00am. I should probably go home so my dad doesn't worry too much, but I don't want to have to face that bitch, Leah.

I remember it's Michael's birthday. I feel like I should wake him up with a lot of excitement for this very special day.

I stand on the bed, being quiet enough to not wake him up, then I begin to jump frantically up and down.
"Oh my gosh Michael, you're 18!" I say giggling. "What?!" He jumps up, and falls off the bed.

I laugh hysterically at him because it was so funny. "Dammit Alanis!" I control my laughter and lay on the floor next to him.

"Happy Birthday." I smile while looking into his eyes and he smiles back. "Thank you"

I giggle and stand up, pulling him up with me.

We sit on his bed. "So what are we going to do today?" I ask him, excitedly.
"Hopefully eat something, because I'm starving."
"Me too." I poke his cheek. "I'm going to make you breakfast."

I hop up and run into the kitchen. I decide on pancakes, eggs, and bacon, because he once told me that was his favorite. I pull out the batter and cook 4 large pancakes. While those cook I start to fry the bacon. A sleepy Michael turns the corner and sits on the counter.
"So how's it feel to be 18?"
"Like a million bucks." He says sarcastically. He gives me a smug smile and I turn around to continue cooking.

After I make everything I present it to him on a fairly large plate with syrup and a glass of orange juice to top it all off.

"Thank you, this looks great." He takes a bite and rolls his eyes back showing the satisfaction. "Oh my sweet buttery pancakes! This is amazing thank you."
"You're welcome birthday boy." I giggle. "I've got to go let my dad know I'm okay but I've got a surprise for you later. I'll text you the stuff."

We say our goodbyes then I hug him and walk out.

I walk into the house expecting to see Leah and Olivia with my dad but they weren't there. My dad creeps from the corner and hugs me tight and unexpectedly.
"Precious, you scared me last night. I know you were safe because Michael called me, but please let me know next time."
"I'm sorry dad. Where's Olivia and Leah?"
"They won't be staying with us anymore. If her daughter is going to act the way, then they could find somewhere else to say."
"Awe. I love you dad."
"I love you too." He lightly kissed the top of my head and let's me go to my room.

I have been planning to do something nice for Michael for his birthday. I am thinking of throwing him a surprise party at the park we always go to.

I text Marina, Zayleah, and Calum to try and get them to help me set everything up.

Michael walks into the park as I had asked him to earlier and gets a huge grin on his face.

"Surprise!" We all scream to him and he laughs and gives us all a big toothy smile.

He gets told 'Happy Birthday' by almost everyone there then I finally get to see the boy.

"Did you do this?"
"Yeah" I blush
"Thank you so much" he hugs me tightly then is quickly pulled away by some of his friends that I don't really know.

I turn around to go find Zayleah but notice she is talking to Calum. I'll leave those two love birds to it.

"Can we talk?" I turn to see Ashton, seeming kind of upset. I should really talk to him.
"Okay."

We walk to the side and he starts, "okay I'm sorry for kissing you, I know you didn't want that and were still going through stuff and I should've respected that. Can we please be okay again?"
"Yeah we're okay." I punch his arm in a friendly way. He just laughs and pulls me in for a big bear hug.

(I put this here because it is better to listen to the song while reading this part which is why I didn't put a song in the beginning... continue on.)

The DJ I had hired put on I Won't Give Up - Jason Mraz and many couples start to hook up and all of the bright lights dim. I start to walk off so I don't disturb anyone when I feel a hand touch my arm. I turn and look into the bright green eyes I fell in love with 6 months ago.

"May I have this dance?" He holds out his hand like a gentleman, I nod and take his hand.

I wrap my arms around his neck and his arms slip around my waste and we sway side to side. I smile at him and he returns it. The stars above us are so beautiful. I get much closer than before to him and lay my head against his chest. He hums the tune into my ear which sends chills down my spine.

Butterflies flutter across my stomach as I feel his breathe against my neck. Being with him feels so perfect. I never want this to end, just being here. Close to him.

The song ends and I look up to his eyes. He looks into my eyes, then down to my lips, and back to my eyes. He slightly bites his bottom lip, and gives me a look as if he's asking for approval. I nod in agreement, at loss of words, and lean in. Our lips meet and it feels like fire. His lips so soft and warm. He pulls back and we both smile. The kiss was light but it was definitely passionate. There was many feelings behind it. He leans down to my ear and I feel his breathe, sending chills down my body.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" His words replay in my head a thousand times in that little time I take to answer him. My heart speeds up and I can't help but smile like an idiot.

"I would be honored to, Mikey."

He leans down and kisses me softly again. He smiles through the kisses and that makes my head spin. I missed his lips. I missed being against him.

I missed us.

A/N: okay I know I said "drama" would be happening but I decided Alanis didn't need that kind of negativity in her life. But we almost reached 800 reads!!!
