Clary

As I watched my children slowly make their way up to the casket, something broke inside of me. I'm not mad at Alex. Or Jack or Zack or Rian. I'm mad at myself. I let the poor girl die. I should have known that stupid demon wasn't dead.

"Mom!" Eliza cried and came tumbling into my arms.

"Shhh sweetie it's okay."

"My...my best friend.."

"Hey. It was her time to go sweetheart."

I looked up and saw Gabe and Mason hugging Alex. He looked a mess.

"Let's go talk to the guys, Eli." I said. She nodded and we made our way over

"Hi, Clary." Rian said, putting on a sad smile.

"Hi guys." I said back.

We just talked for what seemed like forever until Alex broke.

He was a sobbing mess, he was gasping for air. Jack made him sit and continued to rub his back while telling him to breathe.

The services ended and we began our drive back to the Institute, Alex and the others following.

"Clary you haven't spoken to me since it happened." Jace muttered.

"Do I have to talk to you constantly, Jace?"

"Well we are married. I want to know what's going through your head."

"It doesn't matter." I snapped.

He dropped the conversation and we finally pulled up at the Institute.

I want to talk to Jace, but I can't. I can't tell him that her death is my fault. I can't tell him that Sebastian is back and is trying to get to me. That he took her out as a warning and if I don't give him what he wants soon, we'll all end up dead.

But the thing he wants is something I'm too selfish to give.

He wants my baby girl.
