I love music from both the '50s and '60s so much it's probably unhealthy, but if I had to choose, I'd choose the '50s over the '60s, hands down. Not just because of Buddy Holly (though that's definitely a factor ;D) but because music from that decade is so pure and raw.
Everything was real. I am 100% perfectly content with just a voice and a guitar and that's what a lot of it was. There was no autotune back then and psychedelic music wasn't a thing yet, thank god (there are a few exceptions—like Daily Nightly and And Your Bird Can Sing—but overall I am not a psychedelic fan). People had real talent, unlike most of the artists of today (except Ed Sheeran, my bby, ily) and that's why it seemed like anyone could stroll into a studio and produce a record. They didn't have technology back then to fuck up vocals so if someone could sing, they could sing.
They were just so real back then and I honestly believe we had some of the best voices in the '50s and everything was so cute and doo-woppy and oh my god I love it so much.
I just.
Gah.
I love '50s pop culture so goddamn much.
Next chapter, I'll post a list of my favorite '50s singers that I highly recommend y'all check out ❤️❤️❤️
