Emma dangles her feet off the edge of the laid back chair and smiles in my direction. "Who knew," she says.
I watch her smiling, knowing that could turn into a frown any minute if I discuss her mother and the things I've found out. Her whole life has been a lie and to think she been living something so far from reality scares me.
"I can't thank Richard enough," Emma says. "Although I'm worried father will find out about this."
I nod understanding her fear. "Richard told your father that you guys went to Riviona for holidays. Your father has no idea you're here with me."
Richard is staying at the same hotel as us. Emma insisted on paying for all of us so that she and I could spend some time together. Now we're in the middle of nowhere surrounded by water and a whole lot of sand, in a beach at Riviona, across the other side of the country.
One whole month away from drama, or so I believe. I can't imagine what will happen when Susan finds out or Emma's other mother finds out. Chances are that they will though within this one month which only means that I have to cherish this moment even more.
I dip my hand against the warm sand, grabbing a fist full. When Emma looks away, I throw it hard against her bare stomach making her open her eyes and scream.
"Andrew!" She shouts before reaching over to the sand and grabbing a hand full.
Knowing that she'll throw the sand at me, I push myself off my chair and run towards the water. Emma chases me as sand grains slowly start dripping out of her hand.
My feet get in contact with the water and as Emma lifts her hand to throw the remaining sand, I immediately grab her hand and pull her towards me forcing the sand to fall against the water.
I plant a soft, quick kiss on her lips before pulling her body over my shoulder while she protests to be put down. I drop her against the water when I get deep enough, watching the water consume her before she pops up to the surface again.
"Andrew, you are dead," she says as she wraps her arms around my neck.
Her smile puts me at rest. I've fallen so madly in love with this girl and I cannot for the life of me stop it.
They say love this madly never keeps a person sane. That it's a dangerous game to play. I say that if you love with no conditions, that you can move mountains and beyond.
Belief keeps people going. It's the answer to tomorrow for so many people. A way to not give up and hope that things will change. I'd be crazy to say what we have is normal, because it's not, it's far from it, but what we have is belief that tomorrow will bring something new.
Emma runs her hand across my chest, pushing the water dripping down my bare chest aside. She laces her hand against mine and leans in. "I love you."
I smile. "I love you, too."
"You're doing all this just for me," Emma says with a grin.
I smirk. "Just for you."
When we get back to the beach, one that very much reminds of the one back home, we drop ourselves against the sand. The one where Emma and I first met. It's just as private
and isolated as that beach. I feel a sense of Algard despite not being there."Let's get married," Emma says.
My head tilts in shock. "What!"
"Let's get married. Dad won't be able to do a thing if we're married."
To say I hadn't thought about the idea was a lie, because I had and several times. I just don't want to rush things although my heart tells me I'll never find someone like Emma again.
"What about our plan?"
"I'll tell my father I love Richard and want to visit his family house. I'll tell him I'll be gone for a bit longer. We can get married as he tries to hitch me up with Richard and then I'll tell him the truth. That way he won't be able to stop me."
I kiss the tip of her nose because she looks cute when she's plotting. "Did anyone tell you, you're crazy?"
She grins. "Just like everyone."
"I'll do it then," I say. "Although you have to give me the chance to propose."
Emma jumps up and down in excitement. "Deal, future husband."
"I think the term you're looking for is future fiancé."
She pulls her body close to mine, wrapping her legs against my waist and then begins kissing me. I push her against the sand as I kiss her back, my hand travelling against her bare skin before twisting behind her back and resting against her bikini strap. With a quick motion, I pull the string unravelling her bikini.
Her hands move from my chest to her chest to keep her bikini in place. "Oh my god!" She shouts.
I smirk. "I think you look quite hot without it."
