Day 87, Sunday, August 5th: 8:47pm

It's been two weeks since I've been kidnapped. I'm still in a lot of pain from when my tibia broke and I think it may have gotten infected. I've been throwing up a lot lately and running a fever. We made it to the Gulf coast in Texas and far away from where I was taken. Hopefully that will give us some distance from those bad people.

We found an abandoned hotel along the beach. It was secluded, almost like it was abandoned many years before the blackout occurred. We planned not to leave until I'm feeling better. I'm laying on an old bed in my shared room with Niall. Feeling so sick and uncomfortable.

All of the guys went out to fish so we can have something to eat for dinner.

Ellen had fallen asleep in her shared room with Aiden and Marion. Marion has been tending to me all day just to make sure I don't get any worse than I am. She left the hotel to find an Aloe Vera plant to use as an antibacterial ointment for my leg.

I'm laying in bed staring out the broken window at the seaside. Watching the colors of the sky change as the moon rises. It's calming. It nearly puts me to sleep when suddenly an old book falls off the bedside table and onto the floor. I roll towards the edge and go to pick it up. I open the drawer so I can set the book inside of it but suddenly it slams shut. I jump back, the pain in my leg springing back. My heart rate increasing more and more.

Suddenly, the bathroom door starts to open slowly. I grab the gun I had under my pillow and point it at the door.

"Whoever the fuck you are, get out or I'll pull this trigger!" I shout, sounding very strongly.

Suddenly, the gun flies from my hand and onto the floor. The only noise I can hear is the waves outside crashing against the beach.

Another book falls from the bedside table and lands on an open page. It was a book on mythological and realistic creatures. The book was opened to a page on guardians. I slowly grab the book and read the page...

"Guardians are similar to spirits. They were believed to become attached to a human spirit and help fulfill important aspects in the human life. It is said they do this because they were once human and never fulfilled their passion in their past life. They die before they can achieve those goals and become stuck in the human world. It is only temporary. Similar to a genie, you are given wishes and they are fulfilled. Guardians communicate by knocking things over or making certain frequencies to help a human take the right path to reach their goal. Some can even communicate using the language in which the chosen human speaks. Only certain humans are chosen by guardians. When the human's aspect or goal is fulfilled, these guardian's spirits will finally move on to the light."

"Guardians?" I ask myself.

"I think I lost too much blood." I shake my head and look at my leg. I hear an eerie whisper coming from the dark bathroom opening.

"Jodie."

I look towards the door.

"Who are you!" I say, scared but remaining calm.

"Jodie."

"Tell me who you are!" I say more sternly.

"Flight."

"What?" I say to myself confused.

"Flight."

"Who are you!"

"Call me Flight."

I quickly back away and into the head board of the bed. My heart rate increasing to the point where I may pass out.

"Breathe Jodie." The voice says.

"Leave me alone! Don't hurt me!" I begin to panic. I can't run because my leg is still broken. I begin to cry.

Suddenly, an old rag is thrown onto the bed in front of me. I look at it, and question if i am actually losing all sanity.

"Take it." The voice says.

"I don't know you!" I shout back, looking around the entire room for any sign of someone playing tricks with me.

"I am Flight."

Suddenly, the old rag begins to float into the air in front of me. I slowly reach out to grab it. It drops into my hands and I use it to wipe the tears from my face.

"Show me who you are." I say, sniffling.

"Look out the window."

I look and I am stunned by what I see. It's a large, lonely crystal blue flower, growing on the vines that began to take over the building. It wasn't there before. The flower floats off the vine and into my hand.

"Flight." The voice says.

I quickly dropped the flower and grabbed the book that I looked at a few minutes ago. I decided to turn to the next page to read more...

"Guardians are given names on which they communicate. For example, 'Sound' is a name given to a guardian who can communicate by tapping and using sound to show a human the right way to do things in order to achieve that goal. They cannot just tell them. The human must figure it out themselves. Almost like a puzzle. Guardians come and disappear throughout the process of helping their human complete their life goal, but will return when the next step for the human goal needs to be followed in order to move closer to the goal being achieved."

"Flight?" I question.

"You're not crazy Jodie."

"Why is this happening to me?" I begin to sob. The flower begins to float and lands on my hand.

"Jodie, you have a special purpose in your life that needs to be fulfilled. I was assigned to be your guardian."

I look at the flower and then out the window. Pondering in deep thought.

"Read the next paragraph."

I look at the flower again and set it down next to me. I grab the book and continue reading...

"Guardians are assigned based on the person and their personality. No guardian is the same as another. Guardians have nothing to do with any family members who are alive or who have passed away."

So this has nothing to do with my father or mother. I have a life goal? Isn't that to survive like everyone else? Suddenly, I'm interrupted by Flight.

"First step to your goal. Talk to Marion."

"What?" I question.

Silence.

"Flight?"

Silence.

Suddenly, I feel sick again and grab the old trash can next to the bed and vomit. Passing out right after, feeling overwhelmed by everything at the moment.
