Chapter 6 - First Period (Ash)

Ash's P.O.V.

     I just looked at her for while. She appeared different to all of the others there. Just looking at her put a smile on my face. I noticed she was looking back. It was almost like nothing else mattered for those few seconds we shared. She eventually waved and turned around to continue talking to her friends. It was like my heart melted away because of that wave.

"Hey Ketchum... Checking out the girls already i see!" I snapped back to reality from those words from Gary

"What are you talking about Gary?"

     He looked at me like he knew something was up.

"It's ok, we all look from time to time."

     Misty heard him and started marching over. Before we could react Gary had a nice red handprint across his face.

Misty screamed at him "I HEARD THAT OAK, KEEP YOUR EYES WHERE THEY BELONG!"  And with that, she turned around.

     All of the girls began giggling. The boy named Cilian walked over to us.

"Maybe it's best to keep those remarks to a minimum, Gary." Gary gave him a dirty look and let out a hard breath through his nose.

"And you must be Ash Ketchin! Welcome to the school." Great, people were already getting my name wrong.

"Actually, it's Ketchum" I said quite awkwardly.

"Agh, my apologies Ash. In any case, I know you'll fit in great here. Many of us just came to this school last year, including myself." And with that he turned to go back to the group, and I followed.

     I liked Cilian. He was polite, smart, and could relate to me. One thing I didn't like was that he used big words.

     This whole time I couldn't get my mind off that Serena girl. Something about her just made me want to get to know her. I've never really had these kinds of feeling before, but I kinda had an idea about them because my mom watches a lot of those romance movies. I'll never admit it to anyone, but I like them too.

     The bell rang and we started making our way to our classes. I had no idea where I was going, so I looked at my schedule and decided to ask the group.

"Hey guys, does anyone have Home ec with professor oak first period? I have no idea where I'm going."

That girl, May, from the bus stop was the first to speak up. "I do!"

Next, that kid Calem, I think at least, pitched in "I do as well."

Finally Serena added "me three!" And I felt my heart skip a beat. I was happy I would be in that class with her. Maybe I could get to know her better through it.

"Okay, I'll just follow you all then." I replied while grabbing my things.

     Just then, the bell rang to alert us to get to class. I just followed the gang for around three minutes and we were there. We all lined up along the wall, waiting for the professor to come in and give us instructions. Another minute rolled around and the second bell rang.

"Good morning class, I am professor Oak. I will be teaching you all about how to properly care for yourselves and your household. I hope we can have some good times in my class, and maybe a little learning along the way."

     The class let out a small chuckle.

"Now, let's get ourselves situated. First off is seating. I don't care where you sit, as long as you are productive and do not disturb class."

     I was actually kinda hoping that we did have assigned seats. I really didn't know anyone at the time, and I felt awkward about asking to sit next to someone. I saw May ask to sit with that guy Calem. Then Serena started looking around the room kinda panicky. I decided I didn't have much to lose, so I went up and started to ask her if she wanted to sit together.

"Uhh h-hey Serena... I was wondering if you would wanna sit together? I really don't know a lot of people here." I managed to push out. I don't know what it was about her, but I felt scared, excited, and all of these other feelings I couldn't identify around her. But I liked those feelings.

"S-sure Ash."

     I was relieved. I thought she would think I was weird and say no. She did hesitate a little on her answer, but I guess that was normal.

     We sat down and professor oak started giving us a lecture about rules and such. It wasn't all bad, he made some jokes along the way and before I knew it, class was over. I was a little bummed I couldn't talk to Serena, but it was a decent class. I packed up my things and was waiting for the bell, which would come any second.

     I looked around at the class. I saw may and Calem talking, and may was flirting pretty hard. I don't know if she likes him, or vise versa, but it made me kinda happy to see stuff like that around here. Back home, there was no relationships going on in my town. We just didn't do that stuff. Maybe it was just because I was only in 7th grade.

     My thoughts were cut short by the bell. I walked into the halls to start looking for my period two class. "Gym class with Alder"

     If this was the same Alder I was thinking of, he was one of the best Athelstan to ever walk the earth. He was a multiple time NBA campion, I'd heard he was from this town but I didn't believe he'd be teaching a gym class! I started running through the halls to get to the classroom, but then realized I have no idea where it is. I turned to see Serena walking the same way.

"Hey Serena, do you know where gym class is? I can't wait to get there!"

"Yea I do, I have it next as well!"

     I was even more excited hearing she had the same gym class as me! I followed her through the halls to gym.
