First of all, I apologise for the horrifically long wait! Secondly, It's summer now so hopefully more regular updates! Enjoy, my loves :)
Sang parked the car in the small parking lot and made her way towards the stout motel building. She counted the cash and naturally checked in for the night under an alias, taking precautions in case anyone did manage to catch up with her and ask the receptionist her name. The bored brunette, engrossed in her cell phone, barely spared Sang a second glance, as she passed her a room key and told her the room number. The motel wasn't as shabby as the exterior suggested, for which Sang was grateful. The past few days had been a total train wreck and she just needed something positive to cling on to before she lost it completely.
Upon entering her room, Sang sat on the neatly-made white bed and pulled out the contents of her pocket. The cell was an old model and Sang pushed down the power button, trying to get it to turn on. Luckily, a bright white screen lit up before her and proceeded to dissolve into a welcome screen. At least she had something to call Matt with. The remaining cash totalled $264. Who kept that much cash in their car? It was bizarre. But then, the Academy was bizarre. She put the money on the bedside table before kicking off her shoes and sliding beneath the cool covers. She spent a moment figuring out the apps on the phone, before finding the alarm and setting it for 6am, hopefully giving her enough time to rest for the next morning's drive. Sang had seldom noticed the dull ache in her shoulder whilst she had been driving, but now that she was finally stationary, it was more prominent and the throbbing was intense. She'd scavenge some Tylenol in the morning she'd decided, but for now she had to sleep. She gently placed the phone next to the money and had barely shut her eyes before sleep overtook her in its sweet embrace.
They say that when one loses their sight or hearing, all other senses are heightened. Sang had had first-hand experience of this whilst living with her mother and sister. When her mother had carried out her unusual punishments, they typically involved her being blindfolded. Through losing her sight for those dreadful hours, Sang's auditory and olfactory senses became that much more acute, and she could hear and smell everything with a new found sensitivity. It was for this reason that Sang became aware of a quiet noise beyond her door as her eyes opened to the blackness of her shadowy motel room. It couldn't have been more than a hushed whisper, but she had heard it nonetheless. She let out the breath she hadn't known she'd been holding and checked the time on her phone. 5:23am. Couldn't whoever was outside just've kept it down for another 37 minutes until her alarm went off? She had always been a light sleeper and decided that now was a good a time as any to wake up and prepare to leave. Knowing her luck, the Academy guys would be outside her room in their entirety, waiting to ambush her once again. She rolled her eyes. She had to stop her over-imagination and face whatever consequences were to come. She mouthed a quick prayer, hoping there wasn't anyone unexpected or unsavory outside. She shoved her feet into her shoes and made her way to the bathroom. A pale, ghastly face stared back at her from the mirror. The green eyes slightly sunken and lined with dark circles, blonde hair disheveled, pink lips chapped. She looked awful. There wasn't much she could do to rectify the horrific sight before her but to splash water on her face and attempt to comb her hair with her fingers. Some of the colour came back to her pallid expression, but not nearly enough for her to not look like a member of the Walking Dead. It would have to suffice. She quickly gathered her meagre belongings and used the phone to send off a quick text to Matt; she would call him once she was on the road. The phone looked too old to be tapped or monitored, seemingly more of a rainy day phone than one of everyday use. She spied through the peephole of the door before exiting. Thankfully no one was in the hallway. The noise that had initially awoken her must have been from someone returning or leaving their room. She swiftly checked out and made her way to the parking lot, only to find something amiss. Her car was gone.
