I change into the things I have laid out, staring at myself in the mirror. Well, I'm not really used to suits and stuff but I don't actually mind wearing one. I tug at the hem of the shirt before putting it inside my pants, much better. Checking my reflection for other flaws, I didn't even notice my mother entering the room and walking over to me. I flinch for second, turning around to face her. "Sorry, I spaced out.", I admit, scratching the back of my neck slightly. "It's fine, you must be very excited. Can I help you with something?", she smiles, placing both of her hands on each of my shoulders and giving them tight squeeze. I only now notice how stiff I am. "I think I'm fine, what do you think?", my mother eyes me carefully, scanning up and down multiple times. "You should do something with your hair then you're good to go.", she releases my shoulders after another hard squeeze.

"Yeah you're right, maybe style it back a little?", I turn back around to face the mirror, pushing one hand through the nest of hair, looking at my mother through the reflection. "Something like that. Come with me for a second.", with a reassuring smile, she turns around and walks over to the bathroom, where Alex just walked out, winking over at me. She was absolutely stunning, her hair curled and pinned up at one side and her makeup matching the dress nicely. She really was beautiful. My sister disappears into her room leaving us the bathroom where my mother pulled me inside to style my hair to her liking. But I have to say, she did a great job. With just a little gel she "glued" the top part up and back, the hair on the side back and into the rest of it. It looks really nice and kinda weird, since I never actually do anything with it, other than brushing it with my sisters brush.

"What do you think?", with one last stroke she eased the top part so it won't seem all that"glued up". "I like it, thank you mom", I hug her tightly, feeling her arms wrap around me and pulling me closer to her. As we part, I can see tears in her eyes making the intense blue in them seem like the water of an ocean. I look at her with shock in my face, receiving a light chuckle. "I'm so so happy for you and that you finally found somebody who loves you as much as Nathan does.", she smiles, one of her hands touching my cheek gently. "And I'm so proud of you. We all are.", her gaze passes me to something behind us. I turn around, seeing Nathan, my Dad and Alex grinning at us with amusement and joy. My mother lets go of my cheek so I could go over to my boyfriend.

"You look so cute.", he states before putting his arms around me in a bone crushing hug, surrounding me with his familiar scent. "So are you.", and he really is. His hair styled similar to mine but in a complete different color, obviously. "Good thing we bought matching outfits.", he smiles, closing the space between us and placing his warm lips on mine. My hands are rested on his hips, pulling him as close to me as possible. "Are you ready to head out?", he asks as we part, still holding each other in our arms. "Sure.", with an idiotic grin I nod, receiving one back.

After dozens of pictures, hugs and tears, we were finally able to leave, much to the disappointment of my mother, who wanted to take more pictures than she already has. My dad actually had to help us, holding his wife back as we escaped the house. That just shows how weird my family is, including myself. During the drive to our school, I got more and more nervous about the whole thing, doubting our choice of going there. Nathan must have noticed because he rested his hand on my thigh, flashing me a dork smile before focusing back on the road. I place my own hand over his, closing my eyes to calm myself down. Everything will be fine, that's what everyone keeps telling me so there has to be something true about it, or?

The parking lot was even more cramped than it usually is, a lot of nicely clothed students heading over to the huge gym next to the school itself. The sun has already started to set, slowly disappearing behind the big gray building. As the engine stopped, I look up at Nathan who seems even more energetic than the girl in the back seat who was more than happy to go here."It'll be fine, I'm here for you. So is your sister.", I smile at him thankfully, sighing heavily. "Are you ready to head inside?", he asks, his eyes glowing in the light of the car. "I think I am.", of course I'm not, but what am I supposed to say?Let's go back home? Nope, there is no turning back now. Alex had already exited the car, opening my door, to pull me outside. "It'll all work out, don't worry.", she says, banning one of the loose strands behind her ear. "You're right.", I get out of the truck, earning a bright grin from my sister.

Nathan walks around the car, smiling at the both of us. "Sky, there is one last thing I want to ask you.", he takes my hand in his , intertwining our fingers. "Do you want others to know that we're together or do you want to keep it a secret?", he asks, his thumb rubbing over the back of my hand."I don't know, what do you think?", I return the question, really not sure if it'll be that much fun for the both of us if we have to pretend we're just friends. "I don't care, but I'd prefer them knowing that you are mine and that they should stay away from you.", he smirks, pecking my lips gently. "Then let's show them, or?", I wasn't really as sure as this might have sounded but I tried to smile at him with confidence. "We don't have to if you don't want to.", he adds, grinning as I shake my head. "It's fine, let's go.", I say, my sister throwing herself around my neck.

We start to head toward the gym,the sun almost completely gone. Every step was like walking on needles but not as painful. I was scared of other student hating on us and turning this evening into a nightmare. My sister and boyfriend are walking on each of my sides, my hand rested in Nathan's and Alex are around my waist. I could already feel the vibration of the music as we were standing at the entrance waiting in line to get inside. Only now, I notice that I'm trembling but not because it's cold or anything, more like way too excited for words to even describe. Not even Nathans hand rubbing and light squeezes calmed me down. My heart is beating painfully fast inside my chest and waves of nausea keep washing over me.

I'm not sure if finally is the right word, but after another few minutes of waiting we got to enter the gym, being greeted by the prom committee who wished us a nice evening. To my surprise I didn't see Junia anywhere with them, not that I would have wanted to talk to her or anything. Nathan gives my hand another light squeeze, leading me over to the tables that were set up at the edge of the crowded gym. The part that was used as a dancefloor was packed with dancing students in pretty dresses or suits. Next to the tables are the beverages and small snacks. I let my eyes search the crowd, not sure of what I'm actually hoping to find. We sit down at one of the free seats, the two of them talking close to each others faces, probably because of the loud music.

"Sky, I will go look for Mika,he's here somewhere, do you want to come with me or stay here?",Nathan asks, his breath smelling of mint which I haven't noticed before. "I'll wait here. Is Alex going some where?", I return the question, looking at the brunette who is staring at her phone."She said something of finding her friends but I don't know when she wants to go.", he smiles, placing a light kiss on my nose before getting up and disappearing in the huge crowd of moving bodies. "Are you going to search for your friends?", I ask my sister, earning a shy smile. "Is it okay for me to just leave you? I can wait for your boyfriend to come back.", the smile grows, probably because of the whole boyfriend thing.

"It's fine, I won't go anywhere.", I laugh, not really wanting her to leave me but on the other side not wanting to be the scare cat anymore. "Are you sure?", she puts her phone on the table, leaning a little closer to me. I nod giving her a reassuring grin. It may or may not be fake, we will never find out. "I'll hurry and come back as soon as I find them, okay?", she takes her phone from the surface, why ever she put it there in the first place and leaves with a hurried peck on my cheek. I watch her as she heads over to the beverage part of the gym and disappears in the crowd just like Nathan did only mere minutes ago. Doubts of my choices creep in and I keep a close eye of my surroundings, in case somebody that just smells like danger comes anywhere near my table.
