-1965-

There she was again - walking to school. She passed by the window everyday bright and early and If I was lucky enough I wold see her walking home as well, usually alone but on the rare occasion she may have a pal or two by her side. She had crisp white knee socks on, white tennis shoes, and a short printed dress. She did not even once glance to the unassuming Musical studio on her way home, but what I wouldn't have gave for her to just glance over one gloomy afternoon and see me staring at her from the window, it was like clock work I was always in that seat by the window as she went to and fro. I spent my days and hours playing in this studio on such pop tracks, jingles or the likes, anything anyone needed me for really. I was more than happy to lend my talent and be in the musical atmosphere. And on this particular day I was standing outside having a sly smoke, I usually was not the first to participate in smoking but for some reason today I had talked myself into the fact that I was going to talk to this girl I had been watching for quite sometime now and maybe if she fancied ask her to get chips or a malt with me. I puffed on the plain white cigarette as I waited patently for the queens arrival. That's when I heard the tapping of her shoes down the cobblestone sidewalk and I rejoiced. She carried a heavy load of books in her arms, slumping her shoulders as she walked. I quickly tossed my cigarette to the ground, not giving it a second thought as I strolled across the road towards her, dodging a car as it passed the street.
She didn't hear me approach her, but when I came within a few feet of her she turned her head to look at me.

"Hi there, let me help you with those." I smiled, feeling like I could vomit my words at any given moment. She looked at me with an expression I could barely read.  "Um, it's okay." I didn't think she knew if she should reject me or not.  We slowly walked down the sidewalk together, either of us trying to figure out what was going on. "No, really let me be a gentleman and help you. I'm James, by the way - you can call me Jimmy if you'd like."  She smiled a small smile after I had introduced myself.   "Well, it's nice to meet you. I'm Margarita, I wold shake your hand James but I've got quite an arm full." She laughed and it made me genuinely happy to hear her giggle like that.  Without further questions or answers I took the armful of books out of her arms.  "Thank you I really appreciate it."  "Oh, it's no problem at all really." I looked down at the titles of the heavy literature within my arms, seeing some quite interesting Art books I wouldn't mind nicking from her.   "Sandro Botticelli is wonderful, are you studying art perhaps?" I questioned her, wanting to hear her voice again.  "Oh, I absolutely agree. And yes, actually I just got into college for Art." She smiled at herself triumphantly.  "Really, I used to go to Art school."   She glanced up at me nodding her head.  "Did you graduate?" She questioned, as we strolled along the rather quite street.  "No, sadly. Painting is my second love I went for eighteen months though. I just became to busy with my session work."  "What would your first love be James?" She questioned playfully.  I glanced down at her, playing with the corner of one of the books in my hand. "Guitar, I play- well, actually I work at the studio where we just walked from. But that is what takes up my time now, It really has always taken up my time. Ever since I got a guitar back in grade school."  Margarita grinned happily before coming to a halt in the middle of the sidewalk.  "That's lovely. I would not mind a bit to hear you play, James." My heart skipped a beat at the thought of getting to see Margarita again. "Well, you are more than welcome to come to the studio one day after your classes. I always stay until five at least."  "Then it's a date, I'll see you eh- tomorrow or the next day?" She suggested, I nodded my head. "Absolutely."  She reached her arms out for the books in my hands.  "This is my flat, thank you so much for walking me here." I reluctantly handed her the stack of books.  "It was very lovely meeting you Margarita. I'll look forward to playing for you." She smiled and took the books from me.  "It was a joy meeting you too, I look forward to hearing you play. Thank you again." And with that she stood tall and leaned close to me, kissing me on the cheek gently.  I wanted to give her a proper kiss on the lips, but for now I was purely happy with the fact that her lips had even touched my skin at all.  She bounded up the steps to her brick flat, quickly unlocking her front door.  Before she closed the door, she turned around a smile spread across her face, "See you later, Jimmy!" And just like that she was off, somberly I started off back to the studio, finally happy I had met that little school girl.
