Chapter 17: Play Ball

(Star's POV)

It's a quite day in Titans Tower, everyone is just lazing around doing nothing. Getting to Tamaran and back took its toll in everyone, and losing Nightwing was worse. No one knows what to say and it's making everyone sluggish and depressed. I walk around the tower towards the girls on the other side of the room. "Hey girls, have any of you seen Marco, I can't find him anywhere?"

Raven shook her head and Stella shrugged, but Avery reached into her pocket and produced my dimensional scissors and a letter addressed to me. "He left a couple minutes ago but told me to give you this when you realised he was missing."

I put my scissors in my pocket and opened the letter. It was in Marco's handwriting.

Dear Star,
I know today is a little depressing, so I devised a little treasure hunt to cheer you up. I want you to go to your room, put on your favourite dress, grab your wand and go to the place where I first tried to ask you out before I got interrupted.
Love from Marco

I did as the letter instructed and ran towards my room, putting the dress on and grabbing my wand, before ripping a portal with the dimensional scissors and stepping into Marco's room in his house in Echo Creek. I look around and see a sign with an arrow pointing down towards the floor saying "go downstairs."

I walk down to see Mrs Diaz sitting on the couch. She looked towards me and patted the seat beside her. "Hello Star, so nice to see you again. Come, sit next to me. I want to show you something."

I say next to her as she turned on the TV. Marco appeared on the screen. "Hello Star, I'm really glad you were able to solve the first clue, but I have a few more for you. You now have to go to the place where your mum abducted us. See you later. Bye."

I stand up and shrug to Mrs Diaz before opening yet another portal before stepping into the yard of the Mystery Shack. Stella, Dipper and Mable were standing around doing nothing in particular. "Hey guys, have you seen Marco?"

Mabel comes over and gives me a hug. "Hey Star, how you doing?"

"I was ok, but I now fear that you are crushing my windpipe."

She lets go. "Sorry, I'm just really happy."

"Why...?"

"No reason. Marco told me to tell you that he is waiting for you and he gave me a riddle. Here it is:
I'm waiting in the place we went on one of our dates,
The place where we sung and you where sick on milkshakes,
I hope you've had fun doing this, maiden fair,
Now all you have to do is go meet me there."

I think for a second. "I've got it, thanks Mabel. See you guys."

I step back through the portal to Echo Creek and head to the karaoke bar on the west side of the city. Me and Marco went there one time for a date, and surprisingly I had never had a milkshake before so Marco bought me one. It was so rich that I just kept drinking them and drinking them until I got sick. Marco carried me home and I felt better because I was in his arms.

I make it to the door and see a sign that says rented for a private function. "Oh Marco."

I walk through the door and all the lights are off and the neon sign that says "please take your seats," is lit.

I take a seat and wait. A few seconds later a waiter comes around and places a strawberry milkshake infront of me. I take a sip and it takes me back. I continue to wait patiently until I here the music start playing. I look at the stage as a spotlight shines on the stage and illuminates Marco, who is dressed in his red hoodie and jeans combo. He picks up a microphone and starts to sing "I want to spend my life with you," by the Proclaimers.

I clap along and laugh at his terrible scotish accent. When the song finishes he comes over to me at the table and pulls something out of his jacket pocket. He arrives at the table and gets down on one knee. He opens up a box to show a beautiful diamond ring. "Star, ever since I met you, you made my life worth living. I have wanted to do this for months and months but didn't know when it was the right time, but after the battle on Tamaran I realised that life can end in an instant and I needed to grab what I can when I can, no more waiting. Star, you are the girl that I love, always have and always will. What I'm trying to say is, Star, I love you. Will you make me the happiest man in the world and do me the honer of..."

His pocket communicator goes off. "Marco, Zach here. I know you said not to disturb you unless it was an emergency, but you may want to open a window."

Me and Marco walk over to the window and look out of it. A giant green blob of jelly in the shape of a man. Marco picks up the communicator. "What the hell is that thing and what is it doing in Echo Creek?"

"We don't know what it is and it isn't in Echo Creek, the feet are I'm Jump City. It's just that big. I suggest we get back to the tower asap."

Marco hangs up. "I'm really sorry Star, I wanted to make this a magical moment for both of us. This really messed it up."

"It's ok Marco, you can continue when we're done."

I whisper in his ear. "And spoiler alert, I'm going to say yes."

I kiss him on the cheek and open a portal. "Come on, let's go save the world."
