Killian Jones

Part 9

I stood waiting for Killian to give orders. The ship came to a stop along with the kings ship.

"Prepare the canons!" orders Killian. The kings men shot first. "Fire!" yells Killian. Some of our men swung from ropes over to the kings ship and some of their men swung over here. I pull out my sword, chaos was everywhere. Two men from the kings ship walk made their way over to me, I griped my sword tightly.

"Look what we have here Laurence. A young woman." says the man with blond hair. The man with brown hair looked at me his eyes widened.

"Paul don't you recognize who she is?" asks Laurence. More of the kings men come over and I start fighting them off. Killian's men start attacking Paul and Laurence as well.

"Should I recognize her?" asks Paul.

"How can you..." starts Laurence. Once I kill the man before me I turn and see that Paul was killed by one of Killian's men. Laurence and I were back to back as the opposite side surrounded us. "Desi. Why are you with these scoundrels?" he asks. I sigh. I knew Laurence because him and Josh were good friends way before we got married.

"I can't go back to London Laurence." I say killing another man. "Joshua's dead. I was raped by a pirate named Cain. My son Shane was killed because he was Joshua's son and not Cain's. I have no where to turn to, but a life of piracy."

"You could still come back with me. We could convince the King to give you a pardon since you were taken. You don't have to live a life of piracy. Joshua told me that if anything happened to him he wanted me to be the one to take care of you. So that's what I'm going to do." he says. I sigh.

"Even if I got a pardon no one would look at me the same way Laurence. No one would understand, they would all give me disgusted looks." I say. I kill the last red coat and turn towards Laurence who was facing me looking sad.

"We could..."

"No Laurence. I can't. I'm sorry, but I can't go back. I can handle myself." I say. The next thing I know Laurence wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me to the side. I feel something rush past my arm making it sting. I look at my arm and see that my coat was ripped and my arm was bleeding. I cover up the wound with my hand.

"See this life isn't for you Desi." says Laurence. He rips off a piece of his shirt and wraps it around the wound and ties it off.

"There's just one left captain!" calls someone.

"Kill 'em." says Killian. Laurence gives me a sad look.

"I'll be back to save you from this life. I promise." he says, kisses my head and run to the side of the ship.

"What are you doing?" I ask. He jumps over the side, I run over and look over. All I can see is the blue sea, I couldn't see Laurence anywhere. "Laurence!?" I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn my head and see Killian standing beside me.

"You knew that red coat bastard?" he asks. I sigh and look back at the water.

"It's something I don't feel comfortable telling anyone." I say.

"You don't love him do ya?"

"What? Nonono. I just know him that's all." I say turning around to face Killian. His looks me over and notices my arm.

"Did you get shot or is it a graze?"

"It's just a graze. I'll be fine." I say. He nods and start giving orders again. I turn and look out at the horizon thinking about what Laurence said. I'll be back to save you from this life. I promise. This isn't going to be any good. He'll bring more red coats to save me when I don't want to be saved. I sigh once again. "That idiot." I whisper to myself.
