Killian Jones

Part 13

   "Father?" I ask in almost a whisper.

   "Hello Darling." he says. I feel tears brimming in my eyes.

   "Father what... why are you here?" I ask choking back tears.

  "After the head guard found Joshua's body he reported back to Joshua's father and I. We had decided to have Weston take the throne since I am in no condition to rule anymore. Once Weston was crowned King he sentenced me to the dungeon for life." he says looking down at the floor.

  "So... you've been down here for two years?" I ask.

  "Yes. Weston has gone power hungry. He said that it was him that should have been King and now the crown is where it truly belongs." he says. I sit down and lean against the wall again trying to comprehend all the information.

  "So he did all of this just because he was jealous of Josh." I state.

  "Seems that way to me." says father. "I'm glad you're safe Desiree."

  "Not for long." I say.

  "What do you mean?"

  "Weston wants to have me executed for being a pirate."

  "So you weren't kidding when you said you were a pirate. How did this happen?" he asks. I sigh.

  "When Josh was killed I was taken by a pirate names Cain. He forced me to be with him, but I had a child." I pause to gather myself.

  "You had a child with the pirate who ruined your life?"

  "Nonono, the child wasn't his. It was Josh's, I was pregnant and didn't even know it yet. So when I gave birth I had a son and named him Shane. And not long ago Cain realized that Shane wasn't his and he killed him." I say trying not to cry.

  "Oh Desi, I'm so sorry..."

  "Father don't be sorry for something that wasn't your fault. No one could've seen that coming." I say. Soon father and I feel asleep.

  The next morning I was woken up by a guard, Laurence was with him. I stand up and face Laurence, I cross my arms. He gave me a sad look as if to say he was sorry.

  "Laurence wanted to see you." says the guard then he moves out of the way.

  "Desi I'm sorry..."

  "I told you that they wouldn't want to take me back Laurence. Yet you tricked me and forced me to come see the king. Then you say that you wanted to marry me and tried to make me marry you. Laurence how can I trust you after all you've done?"

  "Listen I'm so sorry I tricked you into coming back. I was doing what was best for you, I was..."

  "Doing what was best for me? Laurence forcing me to do something wouldn't have been the best for me. That would've been miserable, I don't love you like I loved Joshua. I love you as a friend a brother, but not as anything more then that. If I married you then I wouldn't truly be happy. I'm sorry I just don't return your feelings."

  "I understand, I was doing hat I thought was right. End the end it only one of us would've been happy, I'm so sorry. Now you're going to die because of me and I promised Josh I would protect you. I'm an idiot." he says, then him and the guard both fall to the ground unconscious. I look up and see Killian, he looks at me.

  "Are you alright Desiree?" he asks.

  "I'm fine." I say as he takes the keys from the guard and unlocks the door. He opens the door and I walk out.

  "Let's get you out of here." he says grabbing my arm ready to drag me out.

  "Killian wait." I say making him look at me.

  "What? We need to get you out of here now." he says.

  "I know I know, but I need save my father."

  "We don't have time. We'll come back for him." he says trying to pull me with him. I pull my hand away.

  "No I have to save him now. And I'll do it with or without you." I say making him groan.

  "Fine. We'll save him." he says finding the key for fathers cell. He opens the door and he walks out.

  "Desi you didn't have to waist your time for me." says father.

  "Don't talk like that. I would never be able to live with myself if I left you here to rot. I swear to you that I will end Weston. I will find out who was behind all of this and I will put an end to them." I say.

  "Desiree I got you a sword." says Killian holding one out to me, I take it. "Now let's go." I nod and we leave the dungeon. We ran into a few guards, but Killian and I took them out. I kneel down beside one of them and take their weapon belt, I stand up and put it on. "We're almost out of here." 

  "Right. You okay back there father?" I ask.

  "I'm fine Darling." he says. We continue to stay silent as we sneak through the courtyard as the guards are looking for escaped prisoners. Once we reach the front entrance we take out the two guards and made a dash for the woods. Once we were far enough inside we stopped to take a breather. We were all panting.

  "What the hell was that Desiree!?" yelled Killian. "I thought you were back on the Jolly Roger! When I came back you were gone. I had ask around if anyone had seen you! I told you, people around here don't take kindly to pirates!"

  "And I told you I knew that." I say gently. "I'm sorry Killian I had received a letter from Laurence that father had fallen ill. I had to come and see if was true, I might live the life of a pirate now, but that doesn't mean I don't care about my only family I have left."

  "Ya could of told me and I would of came with you." he says in a more gentle tone. Then what I said hit him. His face showed that he was confused about what I said. "What did you mean you knew?" I look at father, he nods at me. I look back at Killian.

  "Before I became a pirate I was the Queen. My husband, Joshua, was killed by a pirate named Cain. He took me and raped me. I then found out I was pregnant. Once the child was born I named him Shane. So the day you found me crying is the day Cain realized that Shane wasn't his, but that it was another man's son. It was Josh's." I say looking down at the ground.

  "Why didn't ya tell me this before?" he asks. I look up at him.

  "I had only just met you Killian. I wasn't about to spill my life's story with a man I didn't know. Especially after what Cain had done. I didn't know you then, but once I realized that you weren't like him I knew I'd have to tell you my past sooner or later." I say, out of nowhere Killian pulls me into a hug. I was shocked at first and my body went stiff, but I relaxed and hugged him back.

  "Don't hide things like that from me anymore." he whispers. I hug him tighter.

  "I won't." I whisper back. We pull away and I turn to father. I hug him.

  "Darling I have something I should tell you." he says. I pull away and look at him.

  "What is it father?" I ask. He takes a shaky breath.

  "I was born into a pirate family."
