Part 11

"Me." he said. I cover my mouth in shock to keep myself from spitting out my rum, I finishing drinking what I had.

"What?" I cough. Laurence takes my hand in his and looks me in the eye.

"Desi. I have loved you ever since the first time I met you. I didn't want to get between you and Joshua though. You made each other so happy, I didn't want to ruin what you two had." he says. I didn't know what to say, I was speechless. "It's okay if you don't return those feelings. I can wait for you."

"Laurence... I... it's going to take a long time before I can love anyone else." I say taking my hand back.

"I know that Desi and I understand. Losing Josh was horrible. For both you and me, but we can make it work. Just say you'll come back with me to London." he says.

"Laurence. You're like a brother to me, but I am not going back to London. This maybe good for me. I get to experience new places." I say taking another swig.

"How can you be okay with living with a bunch of pirate scum?" he asks.

"It's not that bad Laurence. Just trust me. As long as I stay with this group of pirates I will be fine. They are a lot better than Cain and his men."

"I don't care! They are still pirates!" he says loudly.

"Is there a problem here?" asks Killian. Laurence hides his face more.

"No we just didn't agree on something and he got a little upset is all." I say taking another swig.

"Well we gotta head out soon so in about fifteen minutes or so you need to come back to the Jolly Roger." says Killian.

"Alright." I say. Killian gives Laurence a glare and walks away.

"How does he not scare you?" asks Laurence.

"You just have to know him, he can me kind when he wants to be." I say. The ten minutes pass by very quickly. I finished my rum and leave the payment on the table. "Bye Laurence." I say walking out of the tavern. I walk back to the docks and boarded the Jolly Roger.

"Ah you're just in time." says Killian walking over to me.

"What? Did you think I wouldn't come back?" I ask crossing my arms.

"Well I didn't know how many drinks you planned on havin'." he said with a smirk. I roll my eyes.

"Whatever." I say jokingly. I walk over to the side and lean on the railing looking out at the sea and thought about when I knew Laurence.

Josh and I were at his palace, I was meeting his parents for the first time. I had on my favorite blue dress. We were walking to the parlor when we ran into Laurence. He looked at Josh then me and smiled more.

"Hey you two." he says.

"Hey Laurence what are you doing?" asks Josh.

"I was looking for the two of you. Josh your parents were looking for you two." he says.

"Okay we're on our way." says Josh.

"Oh by the way you look beautiful today Desiree." says Laurence with a small blush.

"Thanks Laurence." I say happily. "You look good today too."

"Thanks." he says rubbing the back of his neck.

"What about me?" asks Josh making me giggle.

"You're always very handsome Josh." I say patting his arm. Josh laughs and put his arm around my shoulder. Josh leads me away from Laurence, just before he was out of sight I saw a hint of sadness in his eyes.
