It was a stormy night. Makoto and I were standing on the sand near the ocean. I knew he was afraid of the ocean, so why was he so calm? Suddenly, he started walking towards the rough water. I tried to go after him, but I couldn't move, nor could I scream. He dissapeared from sight, and I could only see lightning striking the waves in the water.
Then, I woke up in tears. Makoto wasn't by my side, which made me even more worried. And to make matters worse, it was pitched black, and I have a big fear of the dark. The door opened, thankfully I heard Makoto's voice.
"Are you okay? I heard you scream," Makoto sat down next to me. I couldn't answer. "Did you have another nightmare?" He gently rubbed my forehead. I nodded. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to."
"You...you went into the ocean, Makoto! You went into the ocean and I couldn't move!" I bursted into tears.
"It's okay, I'm here now. You're safe," Makoto rocked back and forth, holding me in his arms. I trembled, letting all of my tears out.
After a few minutes, we both layed down. "Close your eyes, go to sleep. It's okay. I'll always be here with you," he pulled me close to him, my head resting against his chest. Then, he began to sing one of my favorite songs.
So soft and sweet
You're laying next to me
Our eyes meet
You're all I see
The tears will flow
With sorrow that you'll never know
The pain of letting go
Your gaze meets mine
Our fingers intertwine

Makoto held me tight, as I fell asleep in his arms. "Good night, my love," he lightly kissed my forehead, and that was all I could remember.
