She finally reached
a place of knowing
she'd be ok, and that
is the biggest part
of the battle...
believing that you
are meant for the
good more than the
bad.

Akira and Àngel laid cuddled up on the couch on the third floor living room. The only room that seemed happy besides the kitchen. The white walls made the room seem bright. White plush carpet. Black staircase with glass railing that lead up to his and Akira's floor. Black sofas, doors, window outlines. They had just finished snacking on junk food and was supposed to be watching tv but to busy staring at each other. It wasn't until Àngel heard cars less than twenty minutes away from his home, that he remembered people were coming over. The panic look on Àngel's face startled Akira and she asked him what's wrong.

"Shit. I forgot I have guest coming over, I allowed Teri to host a party here. It completely slipped my mind. What am I gonna do with you?" He asked himself.

"Who's Teri" Akira felt a sense of jealousy within her. Her chest burned at the thought of him with another woman.

"My..." He stammered over his words. "She's my moms associate. Well one of them. She's Azara's mother. Who adopted me." He quickly ran over the last words. He and Teri had a tricky relationship.

"Do you need me to do anything?" Akira asked generously. She saw his panicked demeanor and immediately wanted to soothe him.

"You can get dressed. They're about to ring the bell."

Akira looked confused as she walked upstairs but soon heard the doorbell. She heard the unsteadiness in Àngel's voice when talking about his mom but didn't bother questioning it.

Àngel pulled the door open and there stood the lady who tried to raise him after his mamá was murdered. She didn't know anything about Àngel but she thought she did. Behind Teri stood Azara, Nina, some of Teri's cord group friends and he saw a head of black hair he knew he recognized. Teri was piped up and full of spirit with a bodacious smile on her face.

"Oh Angie! My boy! I have someone for you." She cried out. "I thought you'd want her since you guys spend a lot of time together. Your girlfriend Sylvia! I ran into her at the market and just knew she looked familiar. She said you knew her from—somewhere." Her fake poshed accent easily detectable by him. He knows her well.

"Then I remembered how she would always be in your room and walking out in your clothes." Teri wiggles her drawn on eyebrows suggestively. "You two make an adorable couple. But anyway I just knew how ecstatic you would be to see her. Doesn't she look ravishing. When are you gonna marry this girl! She is your mate right? I assumed the way she looks at you...Oh it is breathtaking—I want grandkids Angie. And you aren't getting any younger."

"Hey stranger." Sylvia spoke. A skin tight dress on her body and her hair pinned up especially to expose her neck to him. A method of taunting. One that he was now not affected by.

"Teri- she isn't my mate"

"Well- we'll talk about this later. Denying your mate is not an option in this family. Now we'll sat up down here have a get together your friends-"

"Look Teri I don't have friends firstly. You shouldn't insult me that way. Do what you're gonna do." I told her. "I will be joining this party and I will have a guest. No one goes upstairs or downstairs. The elevator isn't for anyone and I mean it." I won't hesitate to snap necks if my rules aren't followed.
