"Miss, this sure is a beautiful dress, I'd hate for it to go to waste." the old lady smiles gently at me and I try and keep calm,
"The only way it's going to go to waste is if you make me keep it. I'm no longer going to prom, so I no longer need this dress. So, if I return it, another girl can buy it and wear it." I shove it towards her and she looks at me,
"Is this because of a boy?"
"Ma'am, I would just like to return this dress." I say, the hangers hook tugging my three fingers down, "Are you going to accept it or not?"
She looks at me for a second, and I raise an eyebrow, "No."
"Well, then." I huff, walking towards the door, opening it and the bells ringing as I do.
"Have a nice day, miss."
"You, too." I mutter as I leave the small shop, going back to my car and throwing the dress in the backseat. I sit in the drivers seat and my friend looks at me with her eyebrows in a knot, "What?"
"Why do you still have a dress?"
"The old lady worker wouldn't let me return it because it's a beautiful dress and she wouldn't want to see it go to waste." I mimic,
"It is a beautiful dress." My friend, Mariana, takes another sip of her frappe and I glare at her, "You can go to prom alone, it's not illegal."
"And see Grayson there with his new slut of a girlfriend?" I scoff, "No, thanks."
"She isn't really a slut."
"Yes, she is! I was dating Grayson for three years, everyone knew! Then she goes and sleeps with him, she's a slut in my book. Now she's dating him, I'm allowed to be pissed." I yell, and she looks at me,
"They slept together?"
"No, I'm assuming they did because how else would Sophia have gotten with him?" I ask, Whose side are you on, anyways?"
"Obviously I'm on your side, and when you say it like that she does seem like a slut." she responds and I pull out of the parking space, beginning to drive to her house. "It's only been a week, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I lie, I'm heartbroken. I gave my heart to Grayson, I opened up to him. I gave him three years of my life and he threw it all away in 3 hours for the girl he told me not to worry about constantly.
I pull up to her front yard, and she gets out with a sincere smile. I drive off once she gets inside since she lives in the ghetto part of town, every since her mom left her and her dad a few years ago. They've lived in a small apartment while he works three jobs and she works one.
Once I get home, I sit in the car for a little dreading going inside. My twin sister is probably here with her new boyfriend. Once I work up the courage to go inside, I grab my bag and my dress, slamming the front door behind me.
"Hey, sweetie, did they take the dress?" my mom asks as I throw it in my
room along with my bag."Nope, I'll just sell it." I respond and walk into the kitchen, regretting my choice. "I'll be in my room."
"Dinner will be ready soon, Grayson are you staying?"
Did I forget to mention Grayson's new girlfriend is my twin sister?
Hello! It's me with a new story because when don't I have a new idea?
Anyways, please don't steal this idea. I actually saw a quote and it inspired me to make this book, that quote is in the description so that's why I'm writing this book so stay tuned:)
If you guys like the prologue, the first chapter should be coming soon. If not,
I just won't publish it at all and I'll take this story down so let me know!
