twenty nine

"I already have senioritis and we've been in school for an hour." Mariana says and I laugh, putting my bag in my locker. "Grayson is talking to you at all, Im surprised."

"I got closure, I told him it's time we're finally over and done with." I say,

"Haven't you been for a while?"

"Well, yeah. But it didn't feel like it. I just needed him to know I'm done with all of it."

"You good?"

"I am." I smile, "Have you seen Ethan?"

"I have not, I do need to talk to you about that." she says and I look at her, "I know you like him and are opening up to the idea of dating him, but it's not just because you want to get back at Grayson?"

"It's not because of that. I like him, Mariana." I say, "I don't think about Grayson anymore. I don't even care if he dates Sophia right now, except she's taken by Jake, but he doesn't rule over my life anymore. I don't live according to what he wants."

"Good." she says, "Now back to Jake and Sophia, when in the hell did that happen?"

"I don't know." I say, "I guess when she got pregnant with his baby..."

"That poor child." she says and I laugh.

"Yeah, your poor niece or nephew." Ethan walks up, "What's up?"

"Just want to go crawl in a hole and cry because of school, how about you?" Mariana says and I widen my eyes,

"Kinda same, dude." he says and I furrow my eyebrows, looking at the two of them.

"Don't act like you don't hate this prison." Mariana says,

"Ain't no prison, it's a fucking snake pit." Ethan says,

"Like your brother?" I ask and he nods,

"How is that whole situation?" Ethan asks,

"We're done. It's over officially." I say and he nods,

"Good, you deserve better." he says and I smile.

Grayson POV

I walk into the school, not ready to face everyone. Most people will hate me, which I deserve, since they heard the news of me cheating. But I'm dreading Skylar the most, I still love her. I shouldn't, I don't deserve to love her. I think I'm getting over her and I see her face and I just fall right back in love, which sucks because I fucked it up.

I open my locker and some of my friends walk up, talking about tryouts for football and a party the weekend of homecoming. I block it out when I see Skylar walking down the hallway, with Mariana and Ethan. I clench my jaw and turn away so they won't see me, my friends probably blocking me.

"It's a fucking snake pit." I overhear Ethan,

"Like your brother?" Skylar asks and I look down. "We're done. It's officially over." she says and I bite my bottom lip. I  fucked up, really badly. She didn't deserve any of what I did to her, and I can't take it back. No matter what I do, I just can't.

I glance over and see the two of them laughing and talking. I slam my locker, "You good, dude?"

"Yeah, I'm just going to get to class. See ya." I walk away and walk right out of the school.

Skylar's POV

"You wanna come over later?" Ethan asks, "I doubt Gray will be home."

"Yeah, sure." I respond, "Ill see you then."

"Yeah, see ya." he walks away and I go to my car, quickly driving home and going inside. I walk into the kitchen, Sophia and Jake sitting at the table.

"Hey, how was first day of senior year?"

"Great, especially since you're not there to bother me." I say, "I can't believe mom and dad are letting you do online schooling."

"I'm pregnant."

"And the father of your child dropped out," I look at Jake, "You're just amazing role models, can't wait to see what this child is going to turn out like."

"Jealous?" Jake asks and I look at him,

"Yes, that's exactly it. I'm jealous of my twin sister going to online school because she got pregnant with an obnoxious high school drop out liar who never shuts up." I look at him, "Better not abuse my sister because I know people."

"What?" he asks,

"I know things." I glare at him and he looks away,

"Skylar, just stop." Sophia says and I roll my eyes, walking upstairs. I take a long nap before waking up to my phone ringing,

"Hey, when do you want to come over?" Ethan asks as I answer,

"Uh, when can I?"

"Whenever."

"Okay, Ill just leave in a few minutes then."

"Okay, text me when you get here." he says, "Drive safe."

"Will do." I hang up and walk downstairs, grabbing my keys and being stopped by Sophia. "What?"

"You could be a little nicer to Jake."

"He's a complete assclown, no thanks." I say and she grabs my hand. "You're lucky you're pregnant."

"He's my boyfriend and the father of this baby, you have to be nicer to him."

"Not gonna happen, you know what he's done and how he fucks people over."

"You went to prom with him."

"Before I knew what a complete dick he was." I say and she looks at me, "Whatever, Sophia, but I won't be nice to him. Ill just ignore him."

"Fine." she walks away and I slam the front door. I quickly drive to Ethan's house and pull into the driveway, getting out and seeing Grayson.

"Hey, Skylar..." he says,

"Oh, hi, Gray..." I respond,

"Did you need to talk to me?" he asks and I shake my head,

"No, I'm, uh, Im actually here to see Ethan. We were just going to hang out." I respond and he nods,

"Right, right, sorry." he walks away and I text Ethan, walking up to the front and he opens it.

"Hey, come in." he says and we go up to his room, "So, what do you wanna do?"

"I dunno, just chill?" I ask and he nods, sitting beside me. We sit in silence for a bit, as I think about what Mariana said and if he'd even really want to keep hanging out with me after turning him down...

"I, uh, actually need to tell you something."
