plz don't leave this is really important to read I promise
This book has 450 THOUSAND reads and that is absolutely crazy to me. Thank you all for the support. When I wrote this 8th grade/freshman year of HS I never imagined it would end up here.
That being said, this is a huge audience and I am able to reach a lot of people. I haven't logged onto this account for a while but it just came back into my mind today.
I'm sure you have all heard of what is happening in the US right now. Between the pandemic, schools closing, workplaces being shut down and being stuck inside, possibly in dangerous situations, life has gotten pretty crazy(so wear your masks and be careful). But I want to talk to you guys about the Black Lives Matter movement and the protests happening right now.
TW: discusses death.
Like I said, I'm sure you've heard of it, but if not here's some background. Black people have always been treated different and unjustly. It's disgusting the way they are viewed by some people, especially by those in law enforcement meant to protect us. George Floyd was trying to purchase something with a $20 bill, which was supposedly counterfeit. He had no idea, but the police were still called. He was not resisting arrest or being violent whatsoever, yet one of the four officers kneeled on his neck for 8 minutes while he called out for help, only for the other three officers to stand by doing nothing. He died, calling out for his mother, and leaving behind a whole family.

Since then, protests have broken out in all fifty states and across the world. People are fighting for the defunding of the police, for black people to be treated equally, for justice, for basic human rights.
The fact that it is 2020 and this is still happening, and still needs to be fought for, is absolutely disgusting.
So, my 400k lovely readers, I ask you to educate yourself. Read about what's happening. Form educated opinions so that when someone tries to denounce the movement you can go off on them and have the facts to back yourself up. Share news what's happening. Argue for what is right(equality for all duh).
Here are a few ways that you can help:
1. VOTE
If you're over 18, VOTE!!! It is the most important thing you can do. Vote for everything from small town elections to the presidential election. Your voice is important. Your voice matters. Especially in getting the pedophile we have in office right now out(!). Research candidates and their beliefs, histories, experience, policies they wish to enforce, everything. Vote and be smart.
2. PROTEST
If it is safe for you to do, attend a protest. However, this is not the case for many. Due to the pandemic, it's not safe for everyone to go out. So if you can't attend one, make sure you show your support and share details of when one is happening so others know. *If you are attending a protest, PLEASE be careful and be PREPARED*
