Sorry for the slow update, I just didn't have a lot of free time these last few days to write. Also, you guys aren't commenting and voting as much as you used to, so it's kind of represses my motivation to write. Please comment your feedback or comments and vote on the chapters!

SOPHIE'S P.O.V.
Over the course of the next four days, a few things worth mentioning happened. Sodapop is borrowing a car from one of Steve's old friends, and in return, Sodapop is going to soup up the car to make it run like new. I've barely seen Sodapop the last few days because of how much he's been in the DX garage fixing up that car to just the way he wants it. He gives the occasional update every time we sit down for a meal, but he talks a different language when he talks about cars. He talks auto mechanics, using words I'm not familiar with. But from what I can tell, he's done real well on fixing up the car, making it real fast. Another thing stood out in these past four days. I rarely saw Dally. He never came to the house or hung out with the gang. I saw him once when two days ago, me and Pony went to Buck's to see if Dally was alright. Dal' was drunk out of his mind and was in no state to talk at all. Pony talked to Buck and slipped him a ten to look after Dally until he was back in his right mind. With the money in hand, Buck agreed.
The drag race is tonight at ten, and waiting is hard for everyone except Soda. He is nervous something awful. Even eating breakfast that day was hard for us as we nervously shifted in ours eats eager for the race tonight. I agreed to go down to the DX with Soda to check out the car. Two-Bit drove me and Soda down and dropped us off at the DX. I had only seen the car once before, right when Sodapop got it from Steve's friend, and I could hardly believe that car was gonna be something driven in a high stakes drag race. It was a real' old T-bird. (I mean it looked old, it might not have been that old, but it was so beat up that it definitely looked the part.) The car had a faded coat of black paint that looked gray because of all the chipping. The tires were worn and had almost no grip left on them. A few of the windows were cracked and they were all in desperate need of a good cleaning. One of the headlights were shattered and I heard that the brakes barely worked.
"You almost done with the car?" I asked Soda as he unlocked the garage door.
"Yeah, I'm done with all the interior and mechanics kinda stuff, I just need to make a few finishing touches.
"Good deal." I said. "I used to drag race up in New York ya know." I bumped his arm with my elbow as he continued to fiddle with the lock.
He smiled up at me from his bent over position. "Really?" He chuckled. "Were you any good?"
I remembered my days back in New York. "If you count never defeated city champion, any good."
Soda stood up and looked at me in astonishment. "You're lying." He said bluntly
"Well I kinda was." Soda looked up at me confused "But that was a long time ago." I looked down at my feet as Soda threw the garage door up and put a piece of wood under it to keep it open. "Actually it wasn't even me who drove the car." Soda looked at me weird.
"Explain." He said going and unlocking the door to the office.
"Me being so young and stuff, I only drove a few times, but most of the time I raced in the passenger seat with my partner Max driving."
