Hey guys, just FYI, I'm gonna try and make my chapters a little shorter so I can get them published more frequently.
Thanks for reading and I love you guys! :)
P.S. I'm gonna have a fit because I stayed up 'till like three am one night writing this, then when I tried to upload a picture to it right before I was done and about to go to sleep, everything deleted and I had to start over. It was just about the worst thing ever. If that doesn't explain my life perfectly, I don't know what does.
SOPHIE'S P.O.V.
I don't really remember how I woke up, it was too early and I was too out of it to take note of anything. It was still dark out for heaven's sake! I already hated school and I haven't even stepped inside the school. The last time I was in a school, I was being expelled. I don't really have a good past with schools or authority figures, such as teachers. I wanted to make this different. I was hoping to stay there a while, so I wanted to make my school life as painless as possible.
Pony woke me up when he was in the kitchen making breakfast. I resisted, but Pony was relentless, and soon I got up. I tried to wake Dally up, but he wasn't having it. I quickly changed in my room and grabbed my backpack. I did my hair in a loose ponytail and wore natural looking make-up. I got myself a bowl of cereal downstairs, but I was too tired to eat, and I knew even then I would regret not eating breakfast. I nodded off at the kitchen table until it was time to go. "Darry, can you give us a ride to school?" Pony asked, flinging his backpack over his shoulder.
"Sorry little man, I gotta go early into work, don't got time."
I threw a pillow at Dally who was still sleeping on the couch. "Dal' can you take us to school?" I asked after my pillow made contact with him.
Dally just groaned and shifted sleepily. "I have a feeling if we let him drive us, he'll crash the car." Pony snickered.
I half smiled then shrugged. "Looks like you two are gonna have to make the bus." Darry said, taking a bite out of a piece of toast.
Just a few seconds after that, we heard the loud engine of the bus roar down the road. "Damn!" Pony yelled. "We're gonna miss the bus!"
He took off running and I followed, but not before I turned around to wave goodbye to Darry. We sprinted down the sidewalk, the bus a few yards ahead of us, and gaining ground. Pony was much faster than me, and I realized why he was such a big deal on the track team. He was fast. I ran as fast as I could, my throat throbbing from breathing the cold and thin air. The bus stopped at the corner where a few kids were all standing. The kids piled on, and Pony made it just before the driver closed the door. Pony waited in front of the bus until I got there, then let me on first. "Ladies first." He whispered as I climbed on the bus.
I walked down the aisle, looking for an empty seat. The seats were packed with talkative teens and rambunkshus troublemakers. I spotted an empty seat and made a beeline to it. It was the one of the only open seats on the bus. Pony was talking to the bus driver for some reason, so I sat down hastily, waiting for him. In the seat next to me, a greaser looking boy turned to me. "Hey-a baby, why don't you come and sit with me?" He said in a voice that reminded me of Two-Bit's voice. I glared at him and rolled my eyes. He shot his hands up in surrender. "I was just tryna make good with the new girl." I clenched my jaw and didn't say anything. I looked foward at Pony who was trying to make his way back to me. "Ya know it would be nice to be on good terms with a Winston." He said quietly.
