And inside, her heart felt like that of a pendulum of a great grandfather clock, it just hung there.

Her heart was so heavy, and one day she feared that she would lack the strength to carry it and it would fall.

She feared that when that great weight she had carried for so long dropped from its aching bonds, her heart wouldn't survive the fall.
It could not.
It would not.

    A small fact about humans:

Humans need hearts.
So desperately, like they need air.
And even after a heart is shattered, it gets patched up and still works ever so beautifully.

    A small fact about oceans:

They contain salt water.
And water is fierce and beautiful.
The bringer of destruction, and the bringer of life.
And ocean's sometimes wash over cities.
Great roaring waves, engulfing everything in sight.

So, when her heart finally broke from its bonds, it fell like a drop in the ocean.

But, that drop caused waves to wash over her.

Great big salty waves.

The salt water, stinging and cleansing her scars and wounds.

It must've been so dreadfully painful, yet so wonderfully refreshing.

Remember that funny thing about hearts I told you?

Well, like all hearts do, hers patched up and carried on.
But keep in mind, that hearts take a
long
so very
long
time
to heal.
