Awake, when I should be sleeping
A feeling akin to hope rose within me.
Home.
Each turn of the wheel, bringing me closer and closer.
I told myself to keep it together, I was so close.
I held my tongue
I bit my lip.
The words stuck in my throat, I choked them back.
One can handle only so much chattering
and I had my fair share.
By the time the front wheels pulled through the front gate, I was ready to leave this all behind.
