Ash

I danced to close to the fire, feeling completely alive in the sparks that showered down from your eyes,

They told me "little girl, you can't play with fire, you will get burnt"

But, I simply laughed and danced away,

relishing in the vibrant heat

I was too enthralled by the flickering heat, to notice the fire slowly cooling

Fires burn out.

I was left cold and feeling solo as I watched you turn to ash and fall through my fingers

The harsh, still smoldering, scars visible only to myself
