Adam's POV:
I looked up to see Isaac, Monte, and Ashley strutting into the hospital room, very noisly, and disturbed Tommy. I glared at them, then remembered Emily was still in the room, too. I looked over at her, her tears flowing slower now, and saw her large smile. She just entered heaven.
"Guys, please shut up! Tommy needs rest, not your loudness!" I hushed, then giggled. They laughed quietly, then spread across the room. Isaac set down some balloons and presents by the window. "Why don't you guys greet our guest?"
Everyone's eyes turned on Emily as she stood up. Hugs broke out everywhere, and she was crying again, but this time, it was happiness that caused her to cry. I smiled, then turned to Tommy. He was obviously trying to smile, but I could tell he was in a lot of pain.
I love you I mouthed to him. This time, he did smile, and he also attempted to return the words, but he didn't succeed.
"Wanna tell me how you guys ended up in this horrible town?" Ashley asked, chuckling a bit.
"It's not that awful. I like it here..." I started, "But anyways, Tommy had talked with the lovely young lady sitting in the room with us, and decided to do a surprise visit. We got here, and decided to stay a while. And um...Emily's ex boyfriend hunted us down out of jealousy and tried to kill us. You know, the usual," I laughed. They laughed with me.
"You say that like it's so casual. Most people don't get hunted by their friend's ex boyfriend!" Monte replied, still laughing.
Tommy's POV:
I was really wishing that Monte, Ashley, and Isaac would remember they had to be somewhere, because I wanted them to shut up and go away. I wished that I wasn't so broken. I wished that I could be closer to Adam. I wished that I could say something. But I couldn't, and I wasn't about to try.
About a half an hour later, after discussing where the band goes from here, the rest of the visitors (excluding Emily) left the room and a nurse entered.
"Alright Adam, one to ten, how's your pain?" She asked with a sweet, little voice.
"A four. Not too bad anymore," he replied with a dazzling smile that made my head spin.
She nodded, pumped a little bit of morphine into his IV bag, then turned to me.
"Tommy, are you able to speak yet?" She asked, a little more concerned than before.
I slightly shook my head no.
"Could you try?"
I opened my mouth and a pain jolted through my jawbone. But I kept trying. "I think....I think I can...talk a...a bit," I stuttered with painful interruptions.
Adam's entire face lit up, and so did Emily's.
"That's fantastic! Alright, on a scale from one to ten, how is your pain?" The nurse asked.
"Eleven point eight..." I whispered. The nurse nodded, then injected a very large amout of morphine into my IV, scowling quietly under her breath.
"Alright! I'll be back in a bit to bring you your dinners!" The happy woman cheerily said as she walked out of the room. I immediately looked over at Adam who was crying.
"What ha...appened?" I stuttered.
Adam sobbed once, then answered, "It's my fault you're here...in so much pain....I could have been stronger. I could have saved you..." He sobbed again. I couldn't really do anything, but Emily rose and stood next to Adam's bed, holding his hand. I wished I could have been in her place. But I was broken. And I couldn't do anything.
"It's...not your...fault, Adam," I tried to say. "It's no ones...fault."
But it was actually someone's fault. Xadrain.
I would end him even if it was the end of me.
The last thing I did.
My revenge.
