-Wednesday-

Katherine's POV:

I usually walked left for school around seven thirty; living just a couple blocks from the school was sometimes a blessing and sometimes a curse. I could leave ten minutes before school started, but instead, I left an hour before school started, and I couldn't tell you why. Sometimes it was because, when I got there early, I had extra time alone or to talk with Emily if she was there early enough. Today, it was because I wanted some time alone. When I arrived at the school, the doors were just being unlocked and the principal generously opened the door for me with a grin.

Creepy.

After grabbing a notebook and pen from my locker, I walked down to the computer lab and began doodling all over one of the pages. After a few minutes, I heard the door to the lab open and saw Emily walking in with a boy I had never seen before. He had short, blonde hair and blue eyes, and looked kind of similar to me in an odd kind of way.

"Katherine, it seems that there's a new kid in your class. Benjamin, this is Katherine. Katherine, this is Benjamin. Now, make friends," Emily coaxed. She was always playing matchmaker for me and it got on my nerves a lot; like I was going to date someone in my class. I wasn't about to make that dumb mistake again. Last time it ended badly....

Emily and Benjamin sat down on both sides of me, making me feel kind of cornered and pressured. Emily logged onto the computer and Ben sat quietly; what was I supposed to say? Emily knows how awkward I can be around...people, in general, actually.

"Katherine, I told you to make friends and you're not doing a very good job of it," Emily scolded, clicking away on the computer.

I sighed and turned to find him gazing at me with either a look of awe or a look of confusion; I couldn't decipher which it was. "Hi, Benjamin."

He nodded at me. Was he really as awkward as I am?

After a bit of quiet chatting, Emily rose from the chair and walked out the lab without saying a word, leaving me alone with the new kid. Go figure, she would leave me alone to screw up whatever "chance" I had with this guy.

Emily's POV:

After introducing Katherine to the man she was destine to marry, I walked out of the room hoping that I had made the right decision by leaving two socially awkward people in a room together, but the idea fled my mind when I saw Cole walk down the hallway towards me. I took a sip from the drinking fountain, then seated myself against the hallway wall where the rest of the early kids were supposed to sit and be quiet. He quickly joined me and I pulled out my IPod, pretending to ignore him.

"Well good morning to you too," He scoffed.

"Oh hush, I was doing that on purpose," I whispered and poked him in the leg. He laughed softly and returned the gesture.

"Are you going to Youth Group tonight?" Cole quietly asked.

I shrugged, "Maybe, I'm not completely sure yet. My parents will probably make me."

Cole nodded, "When are we going to tell everyone that we're together? It's been a few days and no one really knows yet."

"That's because we've always acted like we're dating; people will eventually get the picture. We don't have to tell anyone."

More nodding. I wasn't exactly planning on telling anyone that we were dating because, well, if anyone really cared, they would ask. I'm not really one to just tell everyone something that they wouldn't care to know. Actually, I'm not one to talk to people I don't care about, so that killed off every opprotunity to tell the entire school.
