"Good morning, sunshine," your mom sang to you as you trudged your way into the kitchen. You groaned in response before plopping down at the kitchen table. She placed a plate of eggs, bacon, and toast before you as you mumbled a quiet "thanks" before digging in. "Oh and by the way, we are having dinner with our new neighbors tonight," she told you while washing the dishes. You groaned again with a mouthful of food before rolling your eyes. "Why?" "Because they are friendly and we want to get to know them. Plus, I hear they have a son about your age," she said while winking at you. You made a grossed out face as she laughed and left the room.
You were sitting in your room listening to music and playing on your laptop as your mom walked in. "You have to get ready, wear something halfway decent," she said while raising her eyebrows at your messy room. You would normally wear ripped up black jeans with a band shirt, but you decided to make your mom happy by wearing a cute sundress with sandals. You curled your hair loosely and applied some natural makeup. "Ready," you said while walking downstairs. Since they lived next door, you just walked over to their house. Your mom brought some dish of food over as you rang the doorbell and stood there. A blonde boy about your age quickly answered the door by swinging it open hard as it hit the wall with a loud thud. "Yikes," he mumbled before turning his attention back to you and your mom. "Hi, I'm George," he said while shaking both of your hands. He let you in as his mom soon came out and greeted you guys as well, along with her husband and daughter. Dinner was nice as you made small talk with the new family. You had noticed the son, George, glancing at you multiple times and every time you caught him he would turn red and look away quickly. You had to admit, he was quite cute.
"It was nice to meet you guys," you said as you hugged everyone one last time. You began walking home with your mom before you heard your name being called by George. You glanced at your mom, but she was already inside your house. "What's up?" you said to him as he caught up with you. "I was just wondering if maybe you'd want to hangout with me again soon?" he asked while shoving his hands in his pockets. You looked at him before smiling and nodding your head. "Of course!" He smiled back as you exchanged numbers and talked a little more. "Goodnight, George," you said as you stood at your door. "Goodnight, Y/N." You quickly stood on your tippy toes and kissed his cheek. He blushed hard as you giggled and walked inside. As you closed the door, you felt yourself smiling like an idiot. Maybe having new neighbors wouldn't be as bad as you thought.
