Chapter 24 : I am sorry

Chapter 24

<Sehuns POV>

We entered the ward.

"Doctor says that he is fine and he will wake up in an hours time." Manager hyung said.

I looked down at Kae Li's father who was still asleep. The machines that was monitoring him were making beeping sounds.

"So have you told Kae Li?" Baekhyun asked.

"Yeah. I did."Manager hyung replied

"Is she ok?" I asked.

"She looked ok when I told her."

I looked around the ward but Kae Li was not around.

"Where is she?" I asked Luhan.

"I think she is outside."

I decided to go take a look at her, see whether she was ok.

I quietly opened the door and went out. There wasn't anyone outside but I could hear faint crying sounds from the another side of the corridor. I walked towards it as the crying sounds got louder.

When I saw her, I stopped.

My heart could not help but ache at what I saw.

Kae Li was leaning on Kai's shoulder and Kai was wrapping his hands around her.

I knew what Kai was doing was to comfort Kae Li who was crying but my heart really ached seeing that.

I couldn't look for much longer.

I turned around and made my way back to the ward.

<Kai POV>

"Feel better?" I asked when Kae Li stopped crying.

"Yes much better."

She looked up at me.

"Thank you oppa."and she gave me a hug.

I hugged her back. My heart was thumping so fast.

"Everything will be ok."

She smiled and nodded.

"Okay let's go see how is your appa then." I said and we both made our way to the ward.

Kae Li's father was still unconscious.

"Hey, let's give her some time alone." Luhan said and we nodded.

"We are outside ok?" I gave Kae Li's shoulder a pat. She sat on the chair besides the bed and nodded.

We quietly opened the door and left the room.

"Me and Tao will be going back to get some clothes for Kae Li." Kris said.

"Yeah I think some of us should go back first while some of us stay here with Kae Li." Chen suggested.

"What's tomorrow's schedule like manager hyung?" Suho asked.

"Fortunately nothing in the morning but you guys have a music show at 3 pm. So I need some of you guys to stay here ok? I have to go back, my wife will be worried." Manager hyung replied.

"Okay then. Me, Sehun, Kai, Kyungsoo, Chen and Xiumin hyung should go back first. Luhan hyung, Lay, Baekhyun and Chanyeol, you guys stay here with her and Kris hyung and Tao will come later. We will meet you guys tomorrow then." Suho announced and we left.

<My POV>

"Is it serious?"

"It's curable. He is undergoing chemotherapy now."

"Why didn't he tell me?"

"He wanted to but you wouldn't listen. This is why he came Kae Li."

Those words kept replaying in my mind as I looked at my father still unconscious from the medicine.

I heard the door to the ward open. I turned around and saw that is was Luhan. He passed me a cup of water

"Here drink up."

He then took out the jacket he was wearing and wrapped it around me.

"Thanks oppa."

He gave me a comforting smile.

I suddenly felt a light tap on my hand which was holding on to my fathers hand.

I turned to look.

"Kae... Kae Li ah."

My father was awake.

"Luhan go get the nurse."

"Ok."

My fathers eyes slowly opened.

I held his hands.

"Appa are you ok?"

He nodded slowly.

"So this is the price to pay for you to call me Appa."

A tear rolled down me cheek. The door opened and the nurse, doctor, Luhan and the rest came streaming

They opened the curtains and I saw my father sitting up and on his face was a wide smile.

"He is responding well to the medicine. He will need to stay here for chemotherapy and when it's done he will be good to go home." The doctor explained.

"Kamsahamnida Doctor."

The doctor and nurse left.

"Annyeonghaseyo Uncle! How are you feeling?" Chanyeol asked

"Fine. Thank you all for staying here with Kae Li."

"No problem. It's good that you are ok."

I smiled and went to sit next to him on the bed.

"Are you feeling any pain?" I asked.

"I am fine Kae Li. Don't worry." father replied while holding my hand.

"We will be outside." Lay said and I nodded.

The door closed and it was left with only the two of us.

"When did it start?" I asked.

"Just before you left for Korea."

"Then why didn't you tell me before I left?"

"Would you still have gone to Korea if I told you?"

Would I have gone? No matter how much I hated him, would I have gone if I knew?

"Appa."

"Yes?"

"I am sorry."
