"They were star crossed lovers. Not meant to be together, but loving each other more than anyone I ever met," Emma spoke quietly, standing near the casket, dressed in white.Their death wasn't for mourning over how they were torn apart, it was for remembering how happy they were whenever they were together.
Josh's parents weren't there, no one was surprised.
Tyler's were, both upset but not crying meaning they cared about him, but didn't love him.
Cameron and Alex were crying silently, hands entwined and wishing they could've seen Tyler before he passed.
"They were the two of the happiest and most loving couple ever, so why are they gone? Everyone tried forcing the two apart, but no matter what they found their way back to each other, because that's what love does to you. It makes you go to the extremes just to be together," Emma continued, wiping her eyes quickly and tried keeping herself composed.
"I remember how Tyler did everything in his power to see Josh, how his eyes brightened when talking about him and his smile grew just from hearing his name. It was true love, being young, different."
A silence fell for moment, Jordan and Sarah with guilty expressions on their face and tears falling because it was their fault, their friend died just because they didn't want to lose him to Tyler. Because they were jealous and afraid of being left alone. And they are now, but for the wrong reasons.
The soft tune of A Thousand Years was played in the background, Tyler and Josh looking from above with sympathetic expression while watching their loved ones crying.
The couple wearing white pants and shirts, Josh not having any tattoos and piercings now, aside from their matching ones because love conquered all the rules.
And yes, Tyler felt bad for leaving when he was the one with a choice. But, no matter what, he would always choose Josh.
Seeing his boyfriend looking guilty, Josh gave Tyler's hand a light squeeze and wrapped an arm around him, pressing a kiss to his forehead as they listened to Emma's last words.
"Tyler and Josh. The two weren't made for each other, but they grew together in a way that goes against the alignment of their stars."
As the funeral began ending, Tyler glanced at Josh and the two smiled, the smile only meant for one another that held love and admiration.
They slowly faded away.
A step closer to spending a thousand years together.
Forever
