Chapter 2 Hospital

Standing in front of you is a white building. You entered the door with the sign "Emergence room" on it. Like any other emergence rooms, there are people sitting on benches waiting to be called names and doctors and nurses are all busy. You went up to the counter, a nurse is sitting there, going through some paper documents.

"Excuse me, I would like to see Dan, Daniel James Howell." You are surprised that you still remember his full name.

"4th floor, second room to the right." She answered without looking up.

You didn't want to bother her so you follow her instructions and found your destination.

You walk into the room and found Dan unconscious on the bed with like 10 different tubes and wires connected to his body. His forehead and arms are wrapped with bandages and he got a lot of bruises and cuts on his little exposed skin.

"What had happened to you Dan?" You thought to yourself as you walk towards him.

"Excuse me?" You are interrupted by a female voice from the door. You turned to see a woman with glasses wearing a white robe holding a clip board. She is definitely the doctor.

"Who exactly are you, miss? Are you Mr. Howell's family?" She asked.

"I'm (y/n) (y/l/n). I've received a call last night that Dan is in the hospital." You started to explain.

"Ahh yes, definitely." The woman said, walking towards you. "Sorry, miss (y/l/n). I'm Dr. Collins." She holds out her hand and you shook it. "I am following Mr. Howell's case and I think I should fill you in with his situation."

You nodded and you went out of Dan's room and into the visiting lounge. You both sat down and she started to take out some paper and X Ray sheets as she speaks.

"Mr. Howell was unconscious and pretty weak when the police found him. He was on the side of a high road and he had a broken wrist and an injured leg. His arms and body had a lot of cuts and bruises and his forehead was bleeding. The police couldn't find his phone or any possessions of him but an emptied wallet and his driving license. He was then sent to our hospital. We found his dental record and we called his only emergency contact who happens to be you."

Dr. Collins told you more about Dan's situation. Dan is now recovering and is not on the brink of dying. Thank god! But still, he won't be able to wake up from the coma shortly.

You helped Dan to fill in his hospital admissions and you went back into his room and sat beside him.

The room is so quiet, the only thing you could hear is the weak beeping sound from the heart beat monitor.

For a minute, you look at him. His emotionless face, his hands, his brownish hobbit hair... Everything of him is so familiar. Memories started to flood your brain. All the happiness you have been with him, after all you loved him and you still do now. You hold his hand gently and tears started to blur your sight.

"What had happened to you Dan?" You whispered. "What had happened?" You buried your head in his bed, tears wet the sheets but you couldn't stop thinking what bad things and pain he had been through.

"Miss (y/l/n)," a voice woke you up,"Miss (y/l/n) you must go now, the visiting hours are over."

You turned around and see Dr. Collins bending over you. You realised you have cried yourself to sleep on the edge of Dan's bed. You nodded and stand up whipping your tears away. "Ok..." You mumbled.

"Miss (y/l/n), don't be too sad. He is going to wake up someday but it takes time." Dr. Collins pats your shoulder, as she walks you out, "you could come over tomorrow. You could try talking to him, he can hear what you say. This might help his recovery."

"Thanks Doctor" you glanced over to Dan for the last time before exiting the room.
